According to the study “Unlocking Vietnam’s AI Potential” published by Amazon Web Services (AWS), by 2024, nearly 170,000 Vietnamese enterprises will apply artificial intelligence (AI), accounting for about 18% of the total number of enterprises in the country, up from 13% the previous year.

What is notable is the difference between business groups: 55% of startups have applied AI, of which 35% are developing completely new products based on this platform. In contrast, only 41% of large enterprises have deployed AI and the rate of building new products is only 11%.

According to Mr. Nick Bonstow, Director of Strand Partners - the unit that conducted the survey, this creates "a two-tier AI economic model", where startups take advantage of flexibility and innovation, while large enterprises are still slower in terms of speed and depth of application.

Gamota: 12 years of development, 35 million players

Gamota is one of the largest mobile game publishers in Vietnam, with more than 160 games released in 12 years of operation.

The company currently serves over 35 million players, providing full services from marketing, localization, operations to payments.

As the market expands beyond Vietnam and serves multiple time zones, the pressure to maintain quality customer support increases.

To solve this, Gamota cooperated with AWS partner eCloudvalley to develop the ECVBot chatbot on Amazon Bedrock.

Mr. Duong The Vinh, CTO, shared that this chatbot uses GenAI to automatically process support requests, respond in multiple languages 24/7 and reduce repetitive tasks for employees.

For example, customer service staff who do not speak Thai can still serve Thai customers.

Actual operations show that staff workload is reduced by 50%, 90% of player inquiries are responded to within minutes, and customer information synthesis time is shortened to less than 30 seconds.

This allows employees to focus on queries that require more personalization. This technology also opens up the possibility of analyzing player behavior, personalizing experiences, and optimizing future marketing campaigns.

Katalon: Testing Platform Serving 80 Countries

Originating in Vietnam, Katalon has expanded its operations to the US and India, now has more than 350 engineers and serves 30,000 software testing teams in more than 80 countries.

The company develops Katalon Platform – a testing platform that combines both AI and manual automation – and the AI assistant Katalon Scout.

On AWS service platforms, especially Amazon Nova Act and Amazon Bedrock AgentCore, Katalon Scout allows to describe test requirements in natural language, automatically generate and run scenarios.

According to internal testing, this solution helps businesses shorten testing time by up to 60%, while increasing coverage and accuracy of scenarios.

Mr. Tran Kien Uy, General Director of Katalon, commented: “AI not only changes speed, but also changes the way software is written. Without innovation in testing methods, speed will become a risk instead of an advantage.”

More than 100,000 Vietnamese people have been trained in cloud and AI since 2017. More than 100,000 Vietnamese people have been trained in cloud and AI since 2017.

Gamota and Katalon show how Vietnamese startups can leverage generative AI services to improve their competitiveness.

One side focuses on expanding game customer support, the other side optimizes software testing processes.

What they have in common is that both are using AI not only to address domestic needs but also to serve millions of international customers and partners.

This is also a testament to the innovation capacity that Vietnam can bring to the world .

Currently, AWS is supporting Vietnam to promote innovation through infrastructure and human resource development such as the AI Ready initiative which provides free courses on AI and generative AI.

Mr. Eric Yeo, General Director of AWS Vietnam, affirmed that to maintain competitiveness in the global market, Vietnam needs coordination between the government and the public sector to address specific challenges.
