Construction of China-ASEAN AI Application Center Begins

The center will focus on building AI infrastructure and cultivating AI talent to support practical applications and ensure equitable access to AI technologies.

On September 18, the China-Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Artificial Intelligence (AI) Application Cooperation Center officially started construction.

The center will focus on building AI infrastructure, providing open-source platforms and cultivating AI talent to support practical applications and ensure equitable access to AI technologies, the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) said at a ministerial roundtable on AI in Nanning, capital of South China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, on Monday.

The conference also announced the "AI Plus" Initiative to promote China-ASEAN cooperation and establish a ministerial-level AI cooperation mechanism between China and ASEAN.

The conference aims to create a high-level dialogue platform between China and ASEAN countries, strengthen practical cooperation in AI development and governance, and ensure common benefits from AI advances./.
