The 4 male students include: Tran Thuan Hieu, Pham Nguyen Dang Huy, Nguyen Dang Tung Lam and Tran Chi Anh, all 12th grade IT students, Hanoi - Amsterdam High School for the Gifted.
Surpassing more than 30 teams, from the preliminary round to the final, they have just won the championship of the Vietnam Artificial Intelligence Competition 2025 (VAIC 2025).
This is the third time the group has won an AI-related award. Previously, the group won two Silver prizes at the 5th Central Highlands Informatics Olympiad in 2024 and an AI-related competition organized by Hanoi National University.
By participating in regular competitions, the students have a solid background knowledge, so it is not too difficult to enter the Vietnam Artificial Intelligence Competition 2025.

Sharing with Dan Tri reporter , Tran Thuan Hieu - a member of the group said that to prepare for the exam, students had to study for about 2 months, with all topics related to artificial intelligence.
On the day of the exam, the candidates were given the questions and worked in groups to come up with the results. With the topic related to Medicine , from a cell image, the group did not follow the usual processing method but divided the image into smaller parts, helping doctors detect cancer cells more accurately. This also helped the students score higher than other teams.
In the second question regarding plagiarism identification, the group said they tried many times and got the correct results.
“This is a team competition, so from the beginning we divided the work among the members. For example, Chi Anh will focus on studying theory, Thuan Hieu will handle language processing, and Dang Huy and Tung Lam will learn about cancer cell image processing.
In just one day, with unexpected exam questions and having to coordinate with each other, the students had to work very well as a group to complete it," Thuan Hieu said.
According to the Organizing Committee, the special point of the exam is that the exam is designed around practical problems, using real data, thereby encouraging students to develop critical thinking skills, creativity, and skills to work with modern AI models to solve real-life problems.
The competition does not require students to be professional programmers, but aims at the ability to think of solutions, create models, and collaborate with technology - in line with the spirit of applying AI in the new era.

Sharing with us, the team members said that the competition addressed two very topical issues: applying AI in healthcare and using AI to detect plagiarism.
The topic was quite "hot" and much more difficult than other competitions, but thanks to the good coordination between the members, the students surpassed their opponents.
Talking about how to divide study time when they have to participate in the competition and study in class, the group representative said that they have participated in many competitions related to artificial intelligence.
In particular, to prepare for the contest, students must go online to find documents, take online courses on artificial intelligence to enrich their knowledge or ask questions from teachers in class..., to have the best way to handle the contest.
The Vietnam Artificial Intelligence Competition 2025 attracted 137 contestants from 31 high schools and middle schools in 9 provinces and cities.
In addition to the championship trophy belonging to the team from Hanoi - Amsterdam High School, the Organizing Committee awarded two Gold Medals to two teams of students from the High School for Gifted Students of Natural Sciences (Hanoi National University). Along with that, there were 5 Silver medals and 8 Bronze medals for the competing teams.
