Last year, dolls depicting a navy soldier holding a Trường Sa (Spratly) mandarin orange or a UN peacekeeping soldier from the Lam Phong Studio brand ( Hanoi ) were particularly popular with customers during the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day (A80). Besides these two "sensational" characters, Lam Phong also offers other patriotic doll sets, such as the "Three Regions Parade" set, consisting of three dolls dressed in the traditional costumes of the North, Central, and South regions, their faces beaming with joy, holding red flags and marching in unison.

Designer Le Huy, owner of the Lam Phong brand, shared that the aforementioned products are part of a collection called "Glory of Vietnam ." The creative team behind this collection includes Le Huy as the mentor, two main artists Duong Duc Manh and Nguyen Yen Thuong, and a group of young student artists at Lam Phong Studio.
Sharing the same patriotic inspiration, Ann Group has a product line related to the Hung Kings. Images of the Hung Kings are creatively printed on fabric bags, notebooks, thermal flasks, and more. In 2025, Ann Group will also launch a special product line for two major holidays: the 50th anniversary of national reunification and the 80th anniversary of National Day.
Ms. Du Thi Mai Linh, Strategy Director of Ann Group, said: "The two events were four months apart, but shared the same emotion: the entire nation wanted to participate, to express their patriotism, to be present at this once-in-a-century moment." From that, Ann Group created a high-quality product line including: national flags; red shirts with yellow stars in modern designs; water bottles, towels, notebooks, hats, and all of them sold out quickly.
More beautiful, more durable, more proud, and more responsible.
It's noteworthy that the patriotic gift products from the aforementioned organizations are not at all spontaneous or intended to "follow trends" or capitalize on major holidays. Le Huy stated that the " Glory of Vietnam" series is a continuation of the "Vietnamese Children" series , which was created in 2022. At that time, the depictions of Vietnamese children featured characteristics of ethnic groups and regions, placed within different stories and situations. Last year, with many major anniversaries, Lam Phong Studio's "Glory of Vietnam" series focused on the image of soldiers and marching troops...

These gift sets are made into various product forms: notebooks, scarves, shirts, thermos flasks, refrigerator magnets, dolls, etc. "The products have many different designs, mainly decorated with lacquer, ceramics, or wood. After creating the characters, we transform them into various forms such as statues, bookmarks, refrigerator magnets… This way, the products can reach more people, are cheaper, easier to transport, and make good gifts," Le Huy said.
Although there are no official customer statistics, according to Lam Phong Studio, the majority of customers are foreigners who purchase directly from stores in Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, and Hoi An. The products are popular because they are compact and reflect Vietnamese culture. Korean, Japanese, and Chinese customers often buy through Instagram and other social media platforms. In addition, many domestic customers order them as gifts for friends abroad.
Ms. Mai Linh stated that Ann Group's A80 product line comprises various product categories, each with its own standards regarding materials, durability, functionality, and safety. The products meet national technical standards issued by the Ministry of Health for packaging and utensils that come into direct contact with food. "We don't approach this product line as a group of short-term, disposable souvenirs. These are items designed for people to use throughout the national celebrations, then store and reuse on major national anniversaries," Ms. Mai Linh shared.
According to Ms. Mai Linh, a suitable production strategy is needed for products embodying patriotism. "Sacred symbols of the Fatherland should not be exploited like mass-produced goods, bought based on trends, used once and then discarded. If designed correctly, produced well, and communicated properly, patriotic items can become part of a new culture of use: more beautiful, more durable, more something to be proud of, and more responsible."
