Chiesa has the chance to leave Liverpool this summer. |
Italian media have confirmed that Atalanta are said to be very interested in recruiting the former Juventus striker. If Lookman leaves, Atalanta will have the budget and wage space to bring Chiesa back to his homeland.
"I have loved every moment in Bergamo, but after three wonderful years, I feel it is the right time to look for a new journey," Lookman wrote in a disgruntled letter, claiming that Atalanta broke their promise to prevent him from leaving this summer. It is known that Lookman's likely destination is Inter Milan.
Chiesa could join Atalanta on loan with a mandatory €12m buyout clause, with Liverpool willing to pay part of his wages. Chiesa's current contract with Liverpool runs until 2028.
As for Liverpool, coach Arne Slot's team had a busy transfer period with a series of new players such as Florian Wirtz, Hugo Ekitike, Jeremie Frimpong, Milos Kerkez, Giorgi Mamardashvili, Armin Pecsi, Freddie Woodman and Will Wright. However, they have not stopped as they are closely following Newcastle striker Alexander Isak.
Chiesa, meanwhile, is still struggling to find his place in the Premier League. Last season, he only had 2 goals and 2 assists in 14 games - a figure that is too modest compared to expectations. If Atalanta really come into the game and Lookman leaves, Liverpool could completely let Chiesa return home to balance the squad and finances for the next deals.
