In the quarterfinals of the AVC Nations Cup 2025, the Vietnamese men's volleyball team regretfully lost to defending champion Qatar (2-3), thereby meeting Indonesia in the match for 5th-8th place. In the past 3 years, Indonesia has been considered the nemesis of Vietnamese men's volleyball as they have always been the winning team.

However, in this tournament, coach Tran Dinh Tien 's team showed progress and had a very good mentality, especially in the match against Qatar in the quarterfinals. Therefore, fans have the right to hope for a victory for Ngoc Thuan and his teammates.

The Vietnamese men's volleyball team entered the match with confidence. In addition to their improved attacking ability, the Vietnamese boys' defense also showed careful preparation.

The surprise happened when the Vietnamese men's volleyball team took the lead in 2 sets with the scores 25/23, 26/24, however from set 3, Indonesia proved their mettle. The team from the archipelago won 2 sets in a row to tie the score 2-2.

Entering the decisive 5th set, despite their reduced physical strength, the Vietnamese men's volleyball team still had a commendable performance, but unfortunately lost points at the crucial moment, losing 12/15, ultimately losing 2-3.

Thus, in two consecutive matches against strong opponents, the Vietnamese men's volleyball team played 5 sets, making both defending champion Qatar and Southeast Asia's number 1 team Indonesia sweat to win.

With this result, coach Tran Dinh Tien's team will meet Taiwan (China) in the 7th place match at the AVC Nations Cup 2025.
