Admissions 2025: Which majors are exempted from 50-100% of tuition fees?

In the 2025 school year, some majors will be exempted or have reduced tuition fees. Specifically, full-time pedagogical majors at public schools will be exempted from 100% of tuition fees. In addition, students studying specific majors and professions that meet the requirements of socio-economic development, national defense and security may also be exempted or have their tuition fees reduced according to the provisions of the Law on Vocational Education.

Majors with 100% tuition exemption

All regular pedagogical majors at public schools, including: Preschool Education, Primary Education, Pedagogy of subjects in middle and high schools, SpecialEducation , Physical Education, National Defense and Security Education.

Specialized industries and occupations that meet the requirements of socio -economic development, national defense and security according to the provisions of the Law on Vocational Education.

Students of Police and Military schools. According to State regulations, students studying at these schools are guaranteed full training costs.

According to Decree No. 81/2021/ND-CP of the Government on the mechanism for collecting and managing tuition fees for educational institutions in the national education system and policies on tuition exemption, reduction, and support for learning costs; service prices in the field of education and training, students in the following majors/specializations will be exempted from 100% of tuition fees: Major in Marxism-Leninism; Major in Ho Chi Minh Thought; Major in Tuberculosis; Leprosy; Psychiatry; Forensic examination; Forensic psychiatry; Pathology at public health human resource training institutions according to State-ordered quotas.

In addition, the Law on Medical Examination and Treatment, effective from January 1, 2024, stipulates that the State will fully support tuition and living expenses for the entire course, including: Infectious Diseases; Emergency Resuscitation. However, students must achieve academic and training results that meet the conditions for scholarships at training institutions in the State's health sector to be exempted from tuition fees.

Many schools reduce tuition fees by 50-100%.

This year, for the first time, FPT University has a "Female STEM" scholarship. Accordingly, each female candidate who registers to study in one of the Information Technology majors of FPT University such as: Semiconductor Design, Artificial Intelligence, Information Security, Digital Automotive Technology, Software Engineering, Information Systems, Digital Art Design, will receive a scholarship worth 20 million VND.

Tuition fees for the above majors are currently around 15.8-31.6 million VND per semester.

Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade reduces 50% of the first semester tuition fee for students enrolling in 9 majors, including: Thermal engineering; Nutrition and culinary science; Food processing science; Textile and garment technology; Fashion and textile business; Natural resources and environmental management; Environmental engineering technology; Seafood processing technology; Materials technology.

Speaking to Tien Phong reporter, Master Pham Thai Son, Director of the Center for Recruitment and Business Relations, said that these are occupations with high recruitment demand, the rate of graduates from the school last year having jobs was 95%. However, candidates have not paid much attention.

Mr. Son added that the school still meets its enrollment quota for these majors, but the admission scores are not high. Therefore, the school has reduced tuition fees to attract good and excellent candidates. This year, the tuition fees for the 2025 enrollment period have not been announced in detail, but Mr. Son said it will not increase by more than 10%.

For many years, the University of Natural Sciences (HCMUS), Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City, has offered scholarships of 50-100% of the first year's tuition to attract high-achieving students to the following majors: Geology, Oceanography, Environmental Science (general program), Environmental Engineering Technology, Geological Engineering, Nuclear Engineering. The number of scholarships and specific scores will be announced by the school after enrollment is completed.

According to the school, these are basic science majors that serve the goal of sustainable development and national strategy but are selective in their students. Tuition for these majors is about 28.4 million VND per year.

Similarly, this year, Can Tho University reduced 50% of the first year tuition fee for female students enrolling in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronic Engineering, Control and Automation Engineering, general education system. This year, the tuition fee for these 4 majors is 25.9 million VND.

Ho Chi Minh City University of Technical Education applies a 50% reduction for the first semester, in 6 majors: Machine manufacturing technology, Mechatronic engineering technology, Mechanical engineering technology, Construction engineering technology, Traffic engineering construction technology, Automobile engineering technology.

The school said it will maintain the scholarship until students graduate if their academic results each semester are good (average score of 7/10 or higher).
