Some units with high number of preliminary registrations include the Political Officer School with more than 6,700 applications (the quota is 766), the Military Technical Academy with nearly 5,000 applications (the quota is 360), the Border Guard Academy with more than 3,500 applications (the quota is 250), the Military Medical Academy with more than 3,200 applications (the quota is 180). Compared to 2024, the number of applications to military schools this year increased by 42%, and in 2024, it increased by 61% compared to 2023.

Colonel Do Thanh Tam, Secretary of the Military Admissions Board, said that in recent years, the number of applications has increased thanks to the schools focusing on promoting propaganda and career guidance. Of which, 100% of military schools must go to high schools in the area to provide recruitment information, and at the same time provide career guidance at at least 5-7 high schools in each province and city. In addition to direct propaganda, schools also send documents so that students can proactively monitor recruitment information.

In addition to the increase in quantity, the quality of military recruitment sources has also improved over the years. Admission scores to many military academies and schools are on par with those of top universities nationwide.

Also according to information from the Military Admissions Board of the Ministry of National Defense, in 2025, military schools will recruit about 4,400 students, using 3 admission methods, including: Direct admission, priority admission according to the university admission regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training, regulations of the Ministry of National Defense; Considering the scores of the capacity assessment test organized by Hanoi National University and Ho Chi Minh City National University in 2025; Considering the results of the high school graduation exam in 2025. Thus, compared to last year, military schools have abandoned the method of considering high school transcripts.

Regarding the admission combination, this year military schools use 13 combinations including: A00, A01, B00, C00, C01, C02, C03, C04, D01, D02, D04, D07, A0T. Schools add bonus points to candidates who win national, international, and provincial awards for excellent students, students with international language certificates equivalent to 5.5 IELTS, SAT from 1,068/1,600.

Regarding the equivalent score conversion formula, Colonel Do Thanh Tam said that it will be based on the annual high school graduation exam scores and the score distribution of the competency assessment exam of Hanoi National University and Ho Chi Minh City National University to determine the appropriate equivalent score conversion level.

According to Mr. Tam, it is expected that military schools will also use the percentile method in converting equivalent scores.
