Dak Nong billionaire grows mulberry leaves to raise silkworms, uses silkworm manure to grow clean fruit trees, earns tens of billions/year

Báo Dân ViệtBáo Dân Việt27/02/2025

With the Dak Nong billionaire model of growing mulberry and raising silkworms in Dak Nia commune, Gia Nghia city, DNo Farm uses silkworm manure as natural organic fertilizer for clean vegetables, tubers, and food fruits; produces pesticides from areca nuts, ginger roots, lemons, lemongrass, and chili. Thanks to organic farming and raising, the farm achieves tens of billions in revenue per year.

The unique "continuous farming" organic farming model in Dak Nong

Located in Dak Nia commune, Gia Nghia city, Dak Nong province, DNo Farm is a pioneer in the field of clean and sustainable agricultural production.

This is also the only enterprise in Dak Nong to achieve GlobalGAP certification (strict international standards on good agricultural practices, ensuring product quality, traceability, food safety, consumer health and environmental protection...)

DNo Farm's greenhouse area has an area of 1 hectare, in 2024 the total revenue from the greenhouse will reach more than 6.5 billion VND.

At DNo Farm, every stage from planting to harvesting strictly adheres to international standards.

Workers work in a fixed area in each greenhouse, implementing a thorough disinfection process to minimize the risk of cross-contamination between greenhouses. The visiting area is arranged separately, ensuring the production environment is always clean and safe.

Right from the early days of establishment, Ms. Bui Thi Khanh Hoa , founder of DNo Farm, has defined the goal of farming according to GlobalGAP standards, aiming for a clean and sustainable agricultural model.

With this orientation, the entire farming process at the farm strictly adheres to the principle of "saying no to chemicals".

All plant care methods are researched and developed by Ms. Hoa herself, especially natural mixtures that help prevent and destroy pests safely.

Ms. Bui Thi Khanh Hoa is checking the quality of baby watermelons. This type of watermelon is sold for 55,000 VND/kg.

"In addition to requiring large investment capital, pests and diseases are always a big challenge for DNo Farm. To solve this problem, we apply natural measures such as setting butterfly traps, manually catching pests and using mixtures of areca, ginger, lemongrass, garlic, lemon and chili to limit and eliminate harmful pests," Ms. Hoa shared.

According to Ms. Hoa, the farm's workers often have to work overtime, especially at night, to isolate and catch pests, butterflies and snails... This not only requires meticulousness and perseverance but also significantly increases production costs.

However, Ms. Hoa thinks this is a worthy price to maintain product quality and protect consumer health.

One of the unique highlights at DNo Farm is the model of growing mulberry - raising silkworms - producing organic fertilizer.

On an area of 2 hectares, each silkworm brood lasts 15 days and produces 150-200 kg of high-quality organic fertilizer. Thanks to that, the farm not only saves on fertilizer costs but also creates a self-sufficient, environmentally friendly ecosystem.

In addition, the methods of supplementing nutrients for plants are also completely natural, from soy protein, fish protein to egg and milk solutions. The substrate from silkworm manure and coconut fiber is reused through many stages, from growing melons, watermelons to green vegetables and Tet flowers.

After that, the substrate that has been used twice continues to be used as a base layer for fruit trees such as durian, mangosteen and lychee.

With an area of 2 hectares of mulberry growing and silkworm raising, each year brings in about 400 million VND from selling cocoons.

The silkworm breeding area is covered with curtains to prevent insects from entering. Waste from growing mulberry and raising silkworms and silkworm manure are used by Ms. Hoa as organic fertilizer for DNo Farm.

On a total area of 22 hectares, in addition to vegetable production, DNo Farm also develops 10 hectares of perennial crops such as coffee, durian, mangosteen and lychee.

In addition, the farm also raises wild boars and builds a fish pond system on an area of 2 hectares, completing a closed production chain and increasing sustainability.

Dak Nong billionaire model can visualize sustainable development trend through DNo Farm.

The durian garden is grown organically and in accordance with nature, but still bears fruit out of season. During this period, this billion-dollar tree is still in bloom.

DNo Farm is a pioneer in successfully growing specialty crops such as strawberries and Japanese pumpkins in Dak Nong.

Products such as golden melon, baby watermelon, passion fruit, sweet pepper and fruit tomatoes are always sought after and pre-ordered by customers.

Safe agricultural products from the farm straight to the family kitchen

Completely different from the distribution model through many intermediaries, DNo Farm chooses the direct sales method to ensure freshness, maintain product quality and protect the brand.

"To protect the core values and maintain the reputation of the DNo Farm brand, I am determined to only sell directly to customers, not through any intermediaries - even though many large distribution systems have made extremely attractive offers with figures up to nearly 10 billion VND", Ms. Hoa affirmed.

Many tourists come to experience strawberry picking. At DNo Farm, visitors can freely eat in the garden.

Currently, DNo Farm products are available in many kindergartens in Dak Nong and Ho Chi Minh City, where strict food safety standards are required.

In addition, the farm also serves more than 100 households in major cities such as Gia Nghia, Da Nang, Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City - consumers who are increasingly prioritizing clean and high-quality food choices.

In particular, DNo Farm's herbs have reached the international market with a stable export output of 500 kg per month to Singapore.

DNo Farm staff are growing basil (basil has a spicy, warm taste that helps fight oxidation and prevent cancer, treat coughs and clear phlegm...) in a greenhouse for visitors. There are 13 types of herbs from DNo Farm that are exported to Singapore.

In addition to production, DNo Farm also develops a unique agricultural tourism model. Since the beginning of 2025, the farm has welcomed more than 5,000 visitors, providing opportunities to learn about the closed production process, experience real-life situations such as picking strawberries, harvesting melons, tomatoes and discovering rare animals.

Tourists visit and check-in at the Japanese pumpkin garden. DNo Farm - the billionaire model of Dak Nong is also the first unit in Dak Nong to successfully grow a fruit with high DHA content, considered "soft gold" for health.

DNo Farm not only focuses on clean agricultural production but also plays an important role in developing local human resources. The farm cooperates with Dak Nong Community College to support 22 students majoring in Plant Protection, Tourism, Accounting, and Agriculture and Forestry for internships.

In addition, DNo Farm also creates stable jobs for 17 local workers, with reasonable wages and full accommodation, contributing to improving life and promoting local economic development.

According to Ms. Hoa, in recent years, all of DNo Farm's products have been sold at fixed prices. Annual revenue is about 10 billion VND, after deducting production costs, the annual profit is more than 3.5 billion VND.

In 2024, Ms. Bui Thi Khanh Hoa was honored as "Typical Vietnamese Entrepreneur - Intellectual" and DNo Farm achieved the title of "Excellent Enterprise in Building a Green Environment in 2024" (top 20 typical enterprises by the Institute of Science for Economic and Cultural Human Resources Development under the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations).

According to Mr. Nguyen Thien Chan, Deputy Head of the Dak Nong Provincial Department of Agricultural Development, developing high-tech and clean agriculture is an inevitable trend, attracting the attention of both the international community and Vietnam. Dak Nong province identifies developing high-tech agriculture, linking value chains and adapting to climate change as one of three strategic breakthroughs.

Currently, the province has more than 100,000 hectares applying high technology, with an estimated output of 420,000 tons per year. Of which, more than 35,100 hectares have met high quality standards.

Along with that, the province also aims to develop green, organic and circular agriculture, reduce greenhouse gas emissions and apply science and technology, digital transformation, mechanization and automation in production.

At the same time, Dak Nong aims to link agriculture with industry and services, from production to preservation, processing and consumption, to create a driving force for sustainable development for the local economy.

Many high-tech agricultural models have shown clear effectiveness, opening up opportunities to reorganize production, while attracting organizations and individuals to research and invest in a modern direction. This not only exploits the potential and strengths of the province but also contributes to promoting comprehensive socio-economic development.
