Satisfactory results
Before the match against Timor Leste, the goal for the Vietnam U19 team was not only to win 3 points but also to win convincingly if they wanted to gain an advantage in the race for a place in the semi-finals in Group A.
Despite taking an early lead, the Vietnam U19 team needed a considerable amount of time to settle the match with late goals against Timor Leste's disciplined play.

Nevertheless, the 3-0 victory is an acceptable result for Coach Yutaka Ikeuchi's team. The Vietnam U19 team started their journey with 3 points, kept a clean sheet, and gained a certain advantage before more important matches ahead.
The biggest highlight of the match was striker Cong Hau. The young forward had a brilliant performance, scoring all three goals for the Vietnam U19 team. A hat-trick in the opening match not only secured three points for his team but also boosted Cong Hau's confidence for the remainder of the tournament.
Worrying
However, behind the 3-0 scoreline lie several issues for the coaching staff to consider, particularly regarding the team's playing style. The Vietnam U19 team had a bright start, playing at a fast pace and creating many opportunities. But when Timor Leste began to play more aggressively with constant pressing, the Japanese coach's players struggled to maintain their cohesion.

The team's attacking organization was not yet stable, resulting in many disjointed plays. Meanwhile, Timor Leste's counter-attacks sometimes caused confusion in the Vietnamese U19 defense. Fortunately for Coach Ikeuchi's team, their opponents lacked the skill to capitalize on the rare opportunities created.
In the attacking line, finishing efficiency is also an area that needs improvement. After a relatively fluid start, the Vietnamese strikers began to struggle as the opponents narrowed the space and increased the intensity of their challenges.
Many good scoring opportunities were missed, even Cong Hau, who scored all three goals, had several chances that should have been converted into goals, but ultimately sent the ball wide in a surprising fashion. If the Vietnam U19 team had been more clinical, the lead could have been much larger.
Of course, one shouldn't be too harsh on a young team in their opening match of the tournament. "Every beginning is difficult," and the most important thing is still the victory and the confidence gained after the first game. But to aim for a deeper finish, the Vietnam U19 team certainly needs to improve both their playing style and their ability to capitalize on opportunities.
Myanmar and especially Indonesia present much tougher challenges than Timor Leste. Hopefully, after this initial preparation, coach Yutaka Ikeuchi's team can find their rhythm better and deliver a more convincing performance in the upcoming crucial matches.
