The draw ceremony for the 2025 Southeast Asian U23 tournament took place in Bali (Indonesia) on the morning of May 30. As a result, U23 Vietnam entered Group B to face Laos and Cambodia. This is considered an easy group.

Meanwhile, Thailand is in Group C with Myanmar and Timor Leste, while host Indonesia is in Group A with Malaysia, the Philippines and Brunei. U23 Vietnam entered this year's tournament as the defending champions. In addition to winning the title in 2023, the red team will also be crowned in 2022.
Khuat Van Khang and his teammates are aiming for their third consecutive regional championship. The 2025 Southeast Asian U23 Championship is divided into three groups, two groups of three teams and one group of four teams, taking place from July 15 to July 31 in Indonesia. The three group winners and the best second-placed team will advance to the semi-finals.
From 2024 to present, U23 Vietnam has had many training sessions on the occasion of FIFA Days with the national team, and at the same time participated in two international friendly tournaments U22 CFA Team China 2024 and 2025 with the participation of many quality opponents.
In addition to the goal of defending the championship title of the 2025 Southeast Asian U23 Championship, U23 Vietnam also aims for a ticket to the 2026 Asian U23 Finals and win the 33rd SEA Games Gold Medal.
