U23 Vietnam and U23 UAE - Clip: FPT Play
Coach Philippe Troussier is determined to apply a ball control and proactive attacking style of play for the Vietnam U23 team, even though his team suffered two consecutive defeats at the 2023 Doha Cup (Qatar).
The French coach received good news before the final 9th place match against U23 Kyrgyzstan when the main defender Vu Tien Long returned to the U23 Vietnam team after a period of suspension due to punishment. Thanks to his extensive playing experience, Tien Long is one of the important links in the current U23 Vietnam defense system.

In the opening match against U23 Iraq, Tien Long received a direct red card after a defensive situation, forcing him to foul the opponent to correct his teammate's mistake in the 29th minute. He could not play when U23 Vietnam competed with U23 United Arab Emirates (UAE).

This is the last chance for the players to show themselves and score points with the coaching staff. The whole team is in the testing and training phase before assembling the squad, aiming to defend the SEA Games 32 gold medal. Therefore, coach Troussier does not put too much emphasis on the results of U23 Vietnam at the Doha Cup 2023 even though his players suffered 2 defeats, conceded 7 goals, did not score any goals and are temporarily at the bottom of the rankings.
The match between U23 Vietnam and U23 Kyrgyzstan will take place at 0:30 on March 28 (FPT Play). Fans expect coach Troussier and his team to show progress through each match in the hope of witnessing their first goal in this friendly tournament.
