Coach Shin Tae-yong was offered a huge salary by Ulsan HD Club?

(NLDO) - Ulsan HD Club is getting closer to appointing coach Shin Tae-yong as "captain", with a salary said to be the highest in the history of Korean football.

According to Indonesian media, Ulsan HD (Korea) recently sent an official invitation to coach Shin Tae-yong to be the head coach for the new season. This information was also confirmed by Mr. Shin himself on Suaramerdeka: "Yes, I have received an offer from Ulsan HD Club".

Yonhap also reported: "The two sides have reached an agreement, although the official contract has not yet been signed."

Yonhap news agency (Korea) also added that if he accepts to lead Ulsan HD, Mr. Shin will receive the highest salary ever in the K-League.

Previously, after a series of poor results at the beginning of the season, Ulsan HD Club fired coach Kim Pan Gon. This team went through 10 consecutive matches without a win, of which 7 were losses.

When he was still the head coach of the Indonesian national team, the strategist born in 1970 was rumored to receive a salary of about 1.5 million USD/year (more than 39 billion VND).

Coach Shin Tae-yong is a familiar face in Asian football, especially in Southeast Asia. He also led the Korean team to the 2018 World Cup and had a 2-0 victory over Germany in the final round of the group stage, although they could not advance.

At the end of 2019, Mr. Shin was appointed by the Indonesian Football Federation, helping the country's football significantly improve in terms of physical strength and playing style. However, in January 2025, he was suddenly fired because the team needed a coach who could communicate and adjust tactics better.

Since then, coach Shin Tae-yong has not returned to the coaching bench, despite receiving many attractive invitations, even to lead the Chinese team.
