Director of National Economics University Bui Huy Nhuong asked how graduates can work immediately, be creative immediately, and integrate globally?

Speaking at the conference, Associate Professor Dr. Bui Huy Nhuong, Director of the National Economics University, emphasized that 2025 is the year of strong transformation for the country with many important resolutions of the Politburo , laying the foundation for strategic breakthroughs in science and technology development and innovation.

However, in addition to many opportunities, higher education institutions as well as businesses are also facing many challenges. According to Associate Professor, Dr. Bui Huy Nhuong, digital transformation and AI are changing the way businesses operate, the way people learn and work. The question now is how can schools and businesses "redesign" the training process - from content, skills to learning methods - so that graduates can work immediately, be creative immediately, and integrate globally?

"This is not just a matter of education, but the future of national productivity" - Director of National Economics University expressed.

Many businesses attended the conference

Regarding innovation cooperation between universities and businesses, Associate Professor Dr. Bui Huy Nhuong said that in the context of the Party's new Resolutions encouraging the development of science, technology and innovation, we need to discuss in depth the formation of applied research centers, innovation labs, and business incubators right in the heart of universities. Each idea, each research project needs to be nurtured with the participation of businesses - where knowledge meets practice.

Regarding the "House" linkage model: State - School - Enterprise, the leaders of the National Economics University raised the issue of needing to specify how cooperation does not stop at signing contracts, but becomes a connected knowledge value chain - where policies are created, knowledge is spread, and enterprises enjoy real value?

According to Associate Professor Dr. Bui Huy Nhuong, with the commitment to carbon neutrality by 2050, Vietnamese enterprises are facing a strong need for transformation. The issue is the need to cooperate to promote green human resource training, green policy consulting, and implementation of circular economic models, green finance, and ESG. This is not only a trend, but also a shared responsibility towards future generations.

Delegates attending the conference

At the conference, Mr. Nguyen Huu Hieu, General Director of Fiin Group, pointed out the fact that the gap between academia and business needs is still large. Students lack a practice environment with real data, and analytical and thinking skills with AI are not yet popular. According to Mr. Hieu, students today are good at tools but lack application thinking, so businesses have to spend 3-6 months retraining before their employees can do the job. Therefore, it is difficult to compete in the regional and international markets and Vietnam's AI-Data opportunities are narrowed, the speed of innovation and digital transformation is slow.

Mr. Nguyen Huu Hieu proposed 3 key groups of solutions: Practical training (learning must be associated with real "cases" and real data, training capacity, not only knowing the tools but also knowing how to apply them to make decisions); connecting schools and businesses and nurturing creativity and AI thinking.

Sharing the same view, Mr. Luu Tien Dung, a former student of the Faculty of Law, National Economics University, pointed out the reality that students after graduation must retrain to be able to work, even though the training program is 193 credits (while the law majors of other schools only study about 130 credits). Therefore, Mr. Dung proposed that the National Economics University should design an additional subject "practice of economic law" so that students can have more background knowledge, have products quickly, and have income after graduation.

Dr. Le Anh Duc, Head of Training Management Department of National Economics University, said that the school is developing the content of the subject "Practical Topic - 4 credits" to include in the official training program to increase the practical content in the training process for students.

The course will be organized through the establishment and development of a team of lecturers/guest lecturers from outside organizations and businesses to improve the effectiveness of case studies to help students have early access to the real environment...
