This is a touching work written by People's Artist Huu Quoc himself, adapted into Cai Luong by Dinh Phong and will be broadcast live on HTV's "Golden Bell Forever" program on the evening of November 16 on HTV 9 and digital platforms of Ho Chi Minh City Radio and Television Station.
People's Artist Huu Quoc and the story of gratitude to the seed sower
Talking about the script "The Ferry Still Anchors", People's Artist Huu Quoc said it is a story about teachers who quietly dedicate themselves in remote areas, cherishing each word to nurture the dreams of generations of students. They are people who choose the teaching profession not for fame but because of their belief in knowledge and compassion.
Many years later, when the students grow up and return to the same place to follow in the footsteps of their teachers, the "boat of knowledge" is still anchored in the middle of life, symbolizing the devotion and spiritual heritage of the old teachers.
According to People's Artist Huu Quoc, the story is set in the 1990s - a period when many young people left the city to work in difficult areas. "I want the audience to remember the very real image of a time when young teachers had to walk dozens of kilometers to get to class, lighting up letters in deprived conditions. It was those examples that helped the generation of students at that time have more determination, follow in the footsteps of their teachers, and fulfill the mission of "planting knowledge for future generations" - People's Artist Huu Quoc shared.

People's Artist Huu Quoc returns with "Forever Golden Bell" after three years
After the success of "The Gone Girl's Time", this is the return after three years of People's Artist Huu Quoc as director of "The Golden Bell Forever". He admitted that he "took care of every scene, every performance" so that each character had real emotional depth, not falling into illustration or cliché.
As of November 8, he and his crew had completed staging three scenes, which contained many emotions, from the deep love between teachers and students to concerns about the teaching profession amid social changes.
"The Golden Bell is a highly symbolic program in the life of the Cai Luong stage, a playground for actors from the "Golden Bell of Southern Opera" competition over the past 20 years to have a place to practice their profession. I want each scene in "The Ferry Still Anchors" to not only be a tribute but also a slice of the memories of the teaching profession, so that viewers can see themselves again - as students, as teachers, or as those who are keeping the flame of knowledge alive" - People's Artist Huu Quoc said.

Empathetic, uplifting cast
The play features the participation of artists: Nguyen Van Khoi, Kim Luan, Hong Trang, Le Thi Kim Cuong, Diem Kieu, Ha Nhu, Phu Yen ... and guests: Meritorious Artist Quynh Huong, Artist Thanh Hong, Artist To Thien Kieu and People's Artist Huu Quoc himself.
Each artist put a lot of heart into their roles, from learning about the lives of teachers in remote areas, to expressing the inner feelings of teachers facing challenges in contemporary life.
The artists all said they were very moved when reading the script. There were lines that made the whole group silent because they remembered their teachers. People's Artist Huu Quoc had directed the play with all his heart, so when stepping onto the stage, everyone wanted to act as realistically as possible, not losing the character's everyday breath.

The play "The Ferry Still Anchors" promises to bring the audience a message of gratitude and faith in education . This is a work of gratitude, evoking reflection on the value of the teaching profession in the current context, when knowledge and personality are still two banks of the great river called "education". The ferry, though old, is still anchored, waiting for generations of students to return.
This year's "Golden Bell Forever" program, therefore, promises to be not only a night of art performance but also a journey back to memories, with gratitude for those who "sowed letters" amidst many hardships.
People's Artist Huu Quoc concluded: "I want the audience to remember their teachers after watching. Because no matter how much time passes, that boat of knowledge is still anchored in our memories."
HTV will broadcast live the program "Golden Bell Forever" with the opera "The Ferry Still Anchors" from 9:00 p.m. on November 16.
