Artist Phuoc Loc on stage of the play "Blood Pen"
HTV produced the program "Artists and Stage" for the creative team of the play "Blood Pen" by artist Phuoc Loc to talk about the process of creating this work. He shared his feelings on his personal page about a work that he loves.
Phuoc Loc, from the days of "assembling the scenery" to the night of lights
After many months of preparation and intense days of rehearsal, the play "Blood Pen", inspired by the short story of the same name by the late writer Vu Hanh, directed by author and director Minh Nguyet, officially ended its memorable journey with two performances on October 18 and 19 at the Ho Chi Minh City Theater.
Artist Phuoc Loc, who participated in the project, shared that journey with very real emotions: "The climax was the last six days: from October 13 to 15, we assembled the scenery and edited the lines at the Dance School; on the 17th, we transferred the entire scenery to the Opera House for overall assembly and review.
When he got to the shore, he was so wet he didn't know which was tears and which was lake water... joy mixed with exhaustion. But looking back, the calm lake surface was still beautiful and poetic" - he confided when remembering this work and wishing the play would be re-performed as soon as possible.

Phuoc Loc - Behind the lights are sweat and challenges
As an artist who has been performing for nearly 30 years, Phuoc Loc only plays supporting roles or works behind the stage, but he always does his work well and with passion.
According to artist Phuoc Loc, "Blood Pen" is a challenging journey no less than any previous project he has participated in: "It's strange, every play I 'touch' is scratched and bruised. The plays directed by Minh Nguyet all invited me to participate in a supporting role behind the stage.
The plays "The Voice of the Ngoc Lan Garden Bird" and "Endless Field" both took many months to be released to the public. The play "Blood Pen" was shorter, but the difficulty could not be compared. Each time had its own advantages and difficulties. "Director Minh Nguyet did not give up, determined to do it, and the crew all tried their best to achieve the effect. I had an additional supporting role in the play, but I loved it very much and was determined to make it really good" - artist Phuoc Loc recalled.

He said there were projects that had to be stopped right before the review time, but director Minh Nguyet remained calm and chose the right time to re-stage that work.
"That's why the completion of Blood Pen and its release to the audience was a collective miracle. At that time, I just thought: "When fate comes together, it will come together, when fate separates, it will disappear on its own, that's all. But this time, when the curtain closed, I believed it was true, that we had reached our destination" - artist Phuoc Loc said.
Phuoc Loc loves silent companions
In the memory of artist Phuoc Loc, the last nights before the performance were a series of days of near exhaustion. He recounted with a bit of humor but full of emotion: "Near the end of the road, I was like a different person, easily mad, irritable because of exhaustion. Luckily the design team (who also worked backstage) gave me some ginseng candies, otherwise I would have collapsed.
When I was late for the review, my co-star Cong Danh said something that touched me: "You were so worried about everyone that you completely forgot about your own role? Just that alone is enough to make me feel like my efforts were not in vain" - artist Phuoc Loc said.

Artist Phuoc Loc has been attached to the stage with a burning passion.
Phuoc Loc lives with gratitude, will see light at the end of the road
Closing the play "Blood Pen", artist Phuoc Loc did not talk about his role or achievements, but spoke of gratitude: "I thank the Creator for giving me the opportunity to meet and work in challenging plays. It is those difficulties that teach me to be more patient and mature, both in my career and in life.
When you live with gratitude and a good heart, all good things will come to you. Every day that passes, no matter how hard it is, I still want to smile and move on, because I believe that there is always light at the end of the road for those who keep trying."
The play "Blood Pen" is the return of director Minh Nguyet with an experimental combination of drama and reformed poetry. The play is also a testament to the enduring vitality of artists who still choose to stand on stage - even though "the boat is rocking", as artist Phuoc Loc likened.
From sweat, tears, to faith and gratitude, the journey of the play "Bloody Pen" has written a beautiful chapter in the artist's memory: Art is not only a stage, but also a test of personality, passion and love for the profession that burns forever with time.
