Vietnam U20 women's team to face Thailand and China early in the group stage of the Asian Cup

On the afternoon of November 10, the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) conducted the draw for the 2026 AFC U20 Women's Championship. The lucky draw placed the Vietnamese U20 women's team in group A with host Thailand, China and Bangladesh.

Among them, the Chinese U20 women's team is highly rated in this group. In the qualifying round, this team won all 3 matches, scored 21 goals and did not concede any. Meanwhile, the Vietnamese U20 women's team and the Thai U20 women's team are both familiar opponents, having often met in youth tournaments in the Southeast Asian region.

Most recently, in the final of the U19 Women's Southeast Asia 2025 held in June 2025 at Thong Nhat Stadium, the 3-1 victory went to the young team from the Land of the Golden Pagoda.

Sharing about this result, the head coach of the Vietnam U20 women's team said: "Now the draw results and the order of the matches have been decided. First of all, to prepare for the first match against China, I want to carefully analyze my opponent. The second match will be against the host Thailand. I want to turn the regret at the 2025 Southeast Asian U19 Championship into motivation to prepare and win.

In the third match against Bangladesh, the whole team will be determined to win all 3 points to achieve the goal of advancing to the quarter-finals and moving on to the following goals. We will prepare carefully together to win the opportunity to participate in the World Cup for the first time."

According to the regulations, the teams will compete in a round-robin format, calculating points. The top two teams in each group, along with the two third-placed teams with the best results, will qualify for the quarter-finals. The final round will take place in Thailand from April 1 to April 18, 2026.
