According to the Kyiv Independent, Kyrylo Budanov, Chief of Staff to the President of Ukraine, voiced his support for President Volodymyr Zelensky's assessment that Ukraine needs to reach an agreement with Russia before winter on June 1st.
"The President has tasked us with trying to end the conflict as quickly as possible. I can confirm that he genuinely wants to resolve the issue before this winter. This is a completely realistic and well-considered goal. There are many factors that suggest Russia might accept a proposal to end the fighting," Budanov said.

Earlier, President Zelensky acknowledged that Kyiv only has until winter to advance peace talks with Moscow. "Russia is likely to launch large-scale attacks again targeting Ukraine's critical energy infrastructure this winter. To make the most of the time available for negotiations, the international community needs to exert greater pressure on Moscow," Zelensky said.
On the same day, June 1st, Budanov denied reports that Russia had proposed a temporary ceasefire for the occasion of the Holy Trinity Day.
"I haven't received any information about a ceasefire for the Holy Trinity Day. People can look at the frequency of Russian airstrikes to see the situation clearly," Budanov said.
