Lam Dong is considered to be the country's leader in the application of biotechnology, especially tissue culture technology (invitro) to produce plant varieties for agriculture . Currently, the locality is forming a plant variety production industry to supply the domestic market and export to many countries in the region.

Currently, Lam Dong province has 50 organizations and individuals participating in tissue culture activities, with an output of more than 74 million vegetable and flower seedlings per year; of which, exports reach 40 million plants/year, mainly to the markets of the US, the Netherlands, Belgium, Indonesia, China, Israel, India, Taiwan (China)... To sustainably develop the invitro industry, Lam Dong province has assigned relevant sectors to research and propose specific mechanisms on land, attract investment, import modern equipment and advanced technology; encourage the import and purchase of copyrights of new, high-value mother plant varieties to serve production, promote the strong development of the vegetable and flower production industry, meeting export standards. At the same time, encourage units and enterprises to strengthen links and cooperation to exchange experiences, expand production, and gradually form an invitro seedling production industry.
