
The congress elected a new Executive Committee consisting of 59 members. Mr. Nguyen Minh Nhut was re-elected as Chairman of the Vietnam Red Cross Society of Ho Chi Minh City for the term 2026 - 2031.
Speaking at the congress, Ms. Do Thi Thu Thao, President of the Vietnam Red Cross Society, acknowledged and highly appreciated the outstanding achievements of the Ho Chi Minh City Red Cross Society during the past term; and expressed confidence that many innovative and practical humanitarian models implemented by the Society would be effective and have a widespread impact on the community.
Digital transformation efforts have been initially applied in humanitarian activities, contributing to improved efficiency in resource mobilization and support for the people. In particular, the staff, members, and volunteers of the Red Cross in the city are always present in difficult areas and during urgent situations, becoming a prime example of compassion and social responsibility.

Ms. Do Thi Thu Thao requested that the Vietnam Red Cross Society of Ho Chi Minh City, in the new phase, needs to shift strongly towards a more proactive, thorough, rapid, and sustainable approach; in particular, it needs to pay more attention to vulnerable groups such as: migrant workers, elderly people living alone, children in difficult circumstances, and other vulnerable groups…
“The Association needs to continue affirming its role in coordinating humanitarian efforts, becoming a central hub connecting Party committees, government agencies, businesses, and the people in implementing humanitarian activities; ensuring the principles of reaching the right people, meeting the right needs, at the right time, with transparency, effectiveness, and sustainability. The Association needs to build a streamlined, professional, and modern organization; strongly develop its youth and volunteer force; establish Association branches in schools, hospitals, and businesses; and enhance the capacity of its staff to meet the requirements of digital transformation and modern governance,” Ms. Do Thi Thu Thao emphasized.
Attending and congratulating the Congress, the Standing Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, Le Quoc Phong, praised the outstanding achievements of the Vietnam Red Cross Society of Ho Chi Minh City during the past term, which have made significant contributions to social welfare and the well-being of the people. Many of the Society's programs and movements have not only left a clear mark but have also spread widely. The Society has regularly assisted more than 16,000 humanitarian addresses; built 310 Red Cross houses; provided healthcare for more than 2.3 million people; provided nearly 8 million meals for poor patients and people in difficult circumstances; and mobilized nearly 1,000 people to register for organ and tissue donation…

Mr. Le Quoc Phong requested that all levels of the Association continue to innovate their methods of operation, comprehensively enhance their capacity and position, and build a sustainable humanitarian ecosystem. “All levels of the Association should continue to uphold and promote the noble humanitarian tradition, striving to become a professional, modern humanitarian organization capable of leading, coordinating, and creating positive social values; focusing on innovating methods of mobilizing social resources transparently, applying digital technology , and building a digital humanitarian ecosystem.”
At the congress, delegates unanimously agreed on the direction and adopted a Resolution for the 2026-2031 term, focusing on continuing to strongly innovate the content and methods of operation; promoting the core and coordinating role in humanitarian activities; and building a streamlined, professional, and modern organization suitable for the development requirements of a special urban area.

The association also identified three breakthroughs: promoting digital transformation and building a digital humanitarian ecosystem; improving the quality of staff and volunteers; and building a blood center based on a modern model, gradually mastering the technology for receiving, screening, producing, and supplying blood products, contributing to ensuring blood security and improving the quality of healthcare for the people.
