Applying artificial intelligence to create and innovate

Công LuậnCông Luận05/03/2025

(CLO) These days, the main focus of activities at all levels of the Journalists' Association in provinces and cities nationwide is professional training programs. In the spirit of "keeping up" with new trends, training courses on the application of artificial intelligence are highly encouraged… This is also one of the practical activities aimed at commemorating the 100th anniversary of Vietnamese revolutionary journalism.

The harmonious coordination…

At a press briefing, journalist Le Quoc Minh, a member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper, and President of the Vietnam Journalists Association, stated that in 2025, the Vietnam Journalists Association would strongly promote training in artificial intelligence (AI) to align with modern journalistic technology. According to journalist Le Quoc Minh, technology cannot replace humans but helps reduce labor. By leveraging technology, journalism will work more efficiently and have more time for innovation and creativity… “With the upcoming 100th anniversary of Vietnamese revolutionary journalism, the President of the Vietnam Journalists Association hopes that media agencies will engage in practical and professional activities,” President Le Quoc Minh emphasized.

The Quang Ninh Provincial Journalists Association is holding an intensive training course on the application of artificial intelligence (AI) in multimedia journalism.

In that spirit, the Center for Journalism Professional Training (Vietnam Journalists Association) has coordinated seamlessly with the Association at all levels to organize training courses on artificial intelligence and the skills to use AI applications in journalistic work. This helps reporters apply these skills in every stage of production, from data creation to producing news articles, photos, and videos .

Most notably and recently, the Quang Ninh Provincial Journalists Association organized an intensive training course on the application of artificial intelligence (AI) in multimedia journalism. The course attracted over 60 participants, including editors and reporters from central press agencies based in the province, the Quang Ninh Provincial Media Center, Thai Binh Newspaper, Hai Duong Newspaper, and several other provincial media outlets.

Continuing the theme of artificial intelligence but focusing on specific skills in video production, the Yen Bai Provincial Journalists Association, in collaboration with the Center for Journalism Professional Training - Vietnam Journalists Association, organized a training course on the application of artificial intelligence (AI) in digital video production. Participants were introduced to AI applications in video production; creating engaging video scripts using GPT chat; the ethics and responsibilities of journalists when using AI applications; and digital platforms and AI-optimized video for online environments. Participants also practiced optimizing videos using AI for a digital platform…

Sharing his thoughts on this training course, Mr. Do Ngoc Ha – Standing Vice Chairman of the Quang Ninh Journalists Association – said: Members and journalists gained access to important knowledge about artificial intelligence in journalism, from basic concepts to practical applications. The course content focused on introducing and guiding the use of several modern journalistic support tools such as Gemini, ChatGPT, Canva, Capcut… The course also helped reporters and editors better understand how to apply AI in collecting, processing, and analyzing information, writing news articles, producing multimedia content, creating professional videos, optimizing content on digital platforms, and exploiting big data in journalism. Participants had the opportunity to exchange ideas on how to use AI responsibly, ensuring the authenticity of information, and maximizing the benefits of the technology to improve the quality of journalistic works…

It is understood that professional training programs will continue to be coordinated and flourish at all levels of local journalists' associations nationwide. These training courses will enhance skills in applying AI technology to digital journalistic work; create opportunities for members and journalists to improve their professional skills, meet, exchange knowledge, and share practical experiences…

Improving skills contributes to creating higher quality and more engaging journalistic products.

In the context of digital transformation and facing many new challenges, the role of journalism is becoming increasingly important, and the issue of training and improving the skills of members and journalists must be given even greater importance. Mr. Nguyen Bao Lam, a member of the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Journalists Association and Chairman of the Thai Nguyen Journalists Association, stated that the Thai Nguyen Journalists Association is determined to continue focusing on training and improving the professional skills, expertise, and professional ethics of its reporters and editors. The association will concentrate on organizing in-depth training courses for members on the use of new technologies in journalism… This will not only help create high-quality journalistic products to participate in provincial journalism awards, central government ministries and agencies journalism awards, and national journalism awards…

He also shared that the addition of two new categories, Creative Journalism and Multimedia Journalism, to this year's National Journalism Awards is a significant step forward, reflecting the inevitable development trend of modern journalism. However, along with the opportunities come numerous challenges. Producing multimedia or creative journalistic works requires reporters not only to be professionally competent but also to be proficient in new skills such as data processing, graphic design, video editing, and using AI in news gathering and production. This places higher demands on training and skill enhancement for journalists.

Sharing the same viewpoint and highly appreciating the quality of the content of the artificial intelligence training programs held on this occasion, the Standing Vice Chairman of the Quang Ninh Journalists Association, Do Ngoc Ha, affirmed: “In the context of strong digital transformation, equipping journalists with knowledge and skills to apply AI to journalism not only helps journalists improve their operational capacity but also contributes to creating higher quality and more attractive journalistic products. This is a practical activity aimed at commemorating the 100th anniversary of Vietnamese revolutionary journalism, promoting the application of digital technology in journalistic activities, helping journalists constantly innovate and create, meeting the increasingly high demands of modern journalism.”
