Support the construction of the Bridge of Hope in the Western region.

Can Tho Giao Hang Tiet Kiem (Can Tho Delivery Service) has just contributed an additional 300 million VND, bringing the total number of new bridges built with the Hope Fund to 9 projects in three years.

On the morning of March 22nd, representatives from the Hope Foundation and Giao Hang Tiet Kiem Joint Stock Company commenced construction of Hope Bridge 367 (formerly known as Sau Nghe Bridge) in Tan Quoi hamlet, Tan Hung ward, Thot Not district. This is the first bridge jointly constructed by the two parties this year and the seventh project in their joint cooperation. Two more Hope Bridges will soon be constructed in Soc Trang.

The Six-Way Bridge was built in 2000 with contributions from philanthropists, connecting the two banks of the canal. However, after 23 years, the bridge's surface is narrow and steep, peeling, and the railings are rusty with many broken sections, causing difficulties and safety hazards for people crossing it. It also fails to meet the needs of the local economic development and the increasing volume of traffic.

Mr. Dang Ba Dung, 72 years old, residing in Tan Hung ward, said: "The construction of a new bridge is what the people living in the surrounding area have been hoping for. It will be easier for rescue vehicles transporting patients to other hospitals or for farmers to deliver their agricultural products when the new bridge is built. I will work with the community to contribute and support the construction team to complete the bridge as soon as possible."

The new bridge is expected to be 26 meters long and approximately 4-4.3 meters wide, with a reduced slope to ensure safe traffic flow, serving more than 460 households daily. The project has a total budget of 485 million VND, of which the Hope Fund and Giao Hang Tiet Kiem Joint Stock Company contribute 135 million VND, with the remainder provided by the local government.

In 2022-2023, this transportation company partnered in building six Hope Bridges in Dong Thap , Can Tho, and Bac Lieu provinces. A representative from Giao Hang Tiet Kiem Joint Stock Company shared: "When partnering with the Hope Foundation to build new bridges, we understand that more bridges mean more completed local infrastructure, opportunities for economic development, and improved lives for tens of thousands of local people. At the same time, Giao Hang Tiet Kiem employees can use these bridges to transport goods to the people more easily and quickly."

Previously, on March 21st, the Hope Foundation coordinated the inauguration of 11 Hope Bridges and the groundbreaking ceremony for 7 more bridges in Sa Dec City, Lai Vung District, and Chau Thanh District, Dong Thap Province. The 18 bridges are designed and constructed using reinforced concrete, measuring 25-40m in length and 3.5-4m in width. The total construction cost for the bridges is over 10.6 billion VND, of which the Hope Foundation contributed nearly 2 billion VND.

These activities are part of the "Helping Children Go to School" program, implemented by the Hope Foundation since 2018, aiming to improve transportation infrastructure, enhance the quality of life for people, and ensure the safety of children going to school in riverine areas.
