Ambassador Dang Hoang Giang received Ms. June Kunugi, Director of Partnerships of UNICEF.

On May 30, at the headquarters of the Permanent Mission of Vietnam to the United Nations in New York, Ambassador and Head of the Mission Dang Hoang Giang received Ms. June Kunugi, Director of Partnerships of the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF).

Ambassador Dang Hoang Giang affirmed that Vietnam always attaches importance to and places child protection and care as a top priority in the country's socio-economic development strategy, devoting all necessary resources to investing in children's development.

The Ambassador highly appreciated the role of UNICEF, a reliable partner accompanying and actively supporting Vietnam effectively in protecting and promoting children's rights, especially ineducation , health care, ensuring nutrition and implementing vaccination.

On the occasion of Ms. June Kunugi being appointed as Director of UNICEF Asia- Pacific Regional Office, the Ambassador expressed his hope that UNICEF and Ms. June Kunugi personally would continue to support Vietnam in mobilizing resources, developing policies and promoting specific and practical cooperation programs and projects to achieve more positive results in this field; coordinate and assist the Vietnam Children's Fund in implementing children's goals.

Ms. June Kunugi expressed her impression and appreciation for the achievements Vietnam has made in nearly 40 years of implementing the Doi Moi process, considering it the basis for Vietnam to achieve encouraging positive results in child care and protection.

UNICEF highly appreciated Vietnam's initiative on the Resolution on International Day of Play recently adopted by the United Nations General Assembly, affirming that it will coordinate with the Core Group countries to organize the first celebration on June 11 at the United Nations headquarters so that this is a truly meaningful event for the comprehensive development of children globally.

At the meeting, the two sides agreed to jointly organize activities to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Vietnam-UNICEF partnership, as well as discuss measures to improve the effectiveness of UNICEF's operations in mobilizing resources, implementing programs and projects, and promoting cooperation and coordination in the Asia-Pacific region.
