Responding to the call of the head of the Government, representatives of leading economic groups across the country frankly shared their concerns, at the same time made many specific recommendations and made strong commitments to "reach out to the ocean".

Protect domestic production and prioritize using Vietnamese goods

Mr. Le Ngoc Son - General Director of Vietnam Oil and Gas Group (Petrovietnam) affirmed the pioneering role of state-owned enterprises in stabilizing the macro-economy. To maximize the potential, Mr. Son proposed two important recommendations.

"First, I respectfully request the Government to advise the Politburo to soon issue a new resolution on the development of state-owned enterprises to thoroughly remove institutional bottlenecks. Second, soon issue a decree on the operating mechanism and specific financial mechanism for Petrovietnam, in accordance with the new model and stature," Mr. Son stated.

Petrovietnam representatives believe that timely policy solutions will be an important boost for state-owned enterprises to continue to innovate and develop sustainably.

Hoa Phat Group Chairman Tran Dinh Long proudly shared about the achievements of the Vietnamese steel industry, from a small position to become the leader in Southeast Asia and 11th in the world. However, he also pointed out urgent challenges.

"The European Union recently increased steel import tax to 50%. This is a move that will directly affect Vietnam's exports. Therefore, it is recommended that the Government has a flexible and timely response policy to protect the domestic manufacturing industry," Mr. Long said.

Besides, the "steel king" also earnestly requested the Government to prioritize the use of domestic goods in public investment projects.

"With domestically produced products that meet demand, we hope that State projects will give special priority to using domestic products. That will further motivate the business community to develop more sustainably," Hoa Phat Chairman suggested.

Aspiration to master technology

Meanwhile, FPT Corporation Chairman Truong Gia Binh delivered an emotional speech filled with thanks and promises. He expressed his deep gratitude to the Prime Minister and the Government for creating a favorable business environment and working day and night to resolve important issues of the country.

In particular, Mr. Truong Gia Binh made three strong commitments. First, he will work harder. Large enterprises will join hands to help small enterprises, together aiming for double-digit growth. Second, he will study hard and master technology because a country cannot become rich if it only works for others. Enterprises and entrepreneurs must constantly learn to master technology. Third, he will join the Government in "conquering the sky and reaching out to the ocean"; considering globalization as the responsibility of every enterprise, big or small.

In the energy sector, General Director of Vietnam Electricity Group (EVN) Nguyen Anh Tuan affirmed the vital role of the electricity industry and committed to firmly ensuring national energy security.

Mr. Tuan also shared EVN's ambitious goal of continuing to innovate, master science and technology, and digital transformation to reach the top 3 in ASEAN and strive to become one of the 500 largest corporations in the world (Fortune Global 500) by 2030 if supported by the Government and ministries.

The frank recommendations and strong commitments from leading businessmen at the conference showed the consensus and determination of the business community and enterprises in joining hands with the Government to overcome challenges and build a strong and prosperous Vietnam...
