Vice Chairwoman of An Giang Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Thi Minh Thuy spoke at the launching ceremony of the 115 Emergency Center.
This is a program under the national foreign emergency project for the period 2025 - 2030 chaired by the Ministry of Health and sponsored by Vingroup with 1,000 billion VND. Phu Quoc is one of the first 6 localities selected to implement the model, aiming to improve local medical capacity, meet the needs of people, tourists and international events such as APEC 2027.
The project also trained 40 doctors, nurses, technicians and ambulance drivers who met international standards, capable of quickly handling traffic accidents, strokes, heart attacks, drowning, etc., helping patients receive timely emergency care during the “golden time”.
The establishment of the 115 Foreign Hospital Emergency Center is considered an important step forward to help Phu Quoc Medical Center become a satellite hospital of Cho Ray Hospital, gradually approaching high technology, implementing modern emergency procedures and providing specialized training for medical staff.
Currently, the center has equipped 8/10 specialized ambulances, ready to operate from October 10.
Speaking at the ceremony, Vice Chairwoman of An Giang Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Thi Minh Thuy highly appreciated the significance of the project, contributing to the completion of the integrated emergency network, timely response to emergency situations, and improving the survival chances for patients. Ms. Thuy requested to urgently put the center into effective operation, training human resources with professional qualifications, high sense of responsibility and professional ethics.
The Vice Chairman of An Giang requested that Phu Quoc Special Zone and related units will closely coordinate with Vinmec Phu Quoc health system, ensuring regular work, timely emergency care, and patient-centered service. At the same time, create favorable conditions in terms of infrastructure, information technology and health insurance for the model to promote sustainable effectiveness.
“Phu Quoc currently welcomes millions of tourists each year. The establishment of a modern medical center will not only improve the quality of health care for the people but also create a foundation for the development of the “medical tourism” model.
This affirms the attention of the Ministry of Health, An Giang provincial government and the companionship of enterprises in the strategy of developing an advanced healthcare system, aiming at the goal of building Phu Quoc into a modern, safe and sustainable pearl island," Ms. Thuy emphasized.
