V.League changes throne

Over the past 5 years, Hanoi FC has changed 10 coaches but has only won 1 V.League championship. The balance of power has shifted to other forces, namely Nam Dinh, Hanoi Police, The Cong Viettel or even Ninh Binh.

Low note at Hanoi FC

The appearance of coach Makoto Teguramori half a year ago helped Hanoi FC return to the championship race strongly. The capital team finished in second place, thereby ensuring 15 consecutive official and complete seasons always in the top 3 leading clubs. That was the motivation for the Hanoi FC Board of Directors to decide to extend the contract with Mr. Teguramori for another year, with a clause that they can continue to accompany each other after that, if the Hang Day team conquers the domestic championship this season.

Hanoi FC no longer dominates V.League.

However, right at the time Mr. Teguramori reached an agreement with the Hanoi FC Board of Directors, there was actually a "undercurrent" within the team. It was not dissatisfaction from the players. Simply through professional training sessions and tactics in competition, some opinions felt that the style of the Japanese coach was far from and inconsistent with the reality of modern football.

Some opinions also compare the working style of Mr. Makoto Teguramori with his predecessors such as Bozidar Bandovic or Daiki Iwamasa. And even the fans also compare the tactics used by the Japanese coach, especially in the 0-3 defeat against Nam Dinh that led to the white flag in the race for the V.League championship last season. From the above hesitation, the problem in Hanoi FC's expertise was revealed. In the first 4 matches of the 2025/26 season, Hanoi actually only met 2 strong opponents. Those were Hanoi Police (round 3 of V.League) and The Cong Viettel (National Cup qualifying round). And in both matches against the candidates competing for the championship, Hanoi FC lost.

In the previous 2 matches against Ho Chi Minh City Police (lost 0-1) and HAGL (drawn 0-0), Hanoi FC's attack was deadlocked. Tuan Hai, the face given the opportunity to start in 4 consecutive matches, failed to score. Van Quyet, Xuan Tu, Daniel Passira,... only came on the field from the bench, although they were the faces that created more efficiency than Hai "be". In the stands, Hendrio sadly witnessed Hanoi FC's defeat. He really wanted to enter the field to play under the name Do Hoang Hen. But when Hendrio's naturalization application procedure was not complete, the Brazilian midfielder and the capital team were helpless in appearing on the match list.

V.League changes

Hanoi FC temporarily appointed Mr. Yusuke Adachi, an expert who is only really suitable in the role of guiding and building football development strategy. In the situation of having to part with Mr. Teguramori but not having a suitable plan, the capital team has no other possible plan.

It is known that during this period, Hanoi FC began to rely on "satellites" to connect coaches. The criteria of the club is still foreign coaches, with a name and especially suitable for modern football trends. It seems that the team's Board of Directors has also listened to the players' thoughts, during the period of working with Mr. Teguramori. From there, the club wants to aim for a timely, agile coach to accompany them in the next period.

Hanoi FC may still be able to catch up in the championship race. The team is capable of reaching the top of the league, similar to the previous 15 consecutive seasons. But it is very difficult for them to win the V.League 2025/26 title, in the context that the competitors have prepared better and started more effectively.

Hanoi and Nam Dinh Police both have a strong force capable of fighting on many fronts. Looking at the impressive playing style and the talented players from the two teams, fans will not be surprised if one of the two clubs wins. In fact, in the past 3 years, the V.League cup has only passed through Hanoi and Nam Dinh Police Clubs. The balance of power that once belonged to Hanoi FC has now shifted towards the two clubs with strong investment.

Not to mention, Hanoi FC will also face two other strong opponents, Ninh Binh and The Cong Viettel . With the army team, after 4 seasons with only a modest goal of finishing 3rd overall, a series of generous investments in the transfer market have increased the strength of Velizar Popov and his team. The way The Cong Viettel shows its ambition to compete for the championship this season is exactly the same as 5 years ago, when they brought in Que Ngoc Hai, Tran Nguyen Manh, Nguyen Trong Hoang or Ho Khac Ngoc.

Meanwhile, despite being a rookie, thanks to the bottomless pockets of Chairman Nguyen Duc Thuy, the ancient capital team has transformed itself into the most valuable squad in V.League today. The fact that Ninh Binh has continuously dominated the top of the table in the first 3 rounds is not a coincidence. It is the result of an ambitious investment process from this club.

There was a decade when Hanoi FC dominated the V.League. There were years when the capital team dominated the V.League thanks to its high-class squad and talented coaching staff. But now, Hanoi is no longer the only one aiming for the throne. Because around this team, a series of forces have emerged to change the power of the V.League.

Knots in Hanoi

One of the key reasons why Hanoi FC has stumbled in the past few seasons is the attraction of the transfer market. This club has almost been unable to bring in high-level domestic players like before. Quality and classy national players have gone to Hanoi Police, Nam Dinh and now Ninh Binh or The Cong Viettel. This season, Hanoi can only bring in Nguyen Cong Nhat from Da Nang, in the context that its opponents possess a series of combative faces such as Ngoc Quang, Adou Minh, Ly Duc, Van Viet, Duc Chien, etc.

The appeal of domestic players from Hanoi has really decreased significantly. Meanwhile, the capital's representative's recruitment of foreign players is no longer as good as before. In the past 5 years, the capital's representative has registered no less than 30 "Western" players in all lines. But only Rimario is the player who more or less ensures the target when scoring more than 10 goals/season. This is the next reason revolving around personnel that makes Hanoi lose steam in its effort to dominate V.League.
