On January 14th, the Vietnamese national team faced a major challenge against Japan in their opening match of the 2023 Asian Cup. However, it was worrying that coach Troussier did not have his strongest squad available. Just days before the match, striker Pham Tuan Hai suffered an injury and was unable to participate in tactical training with his teammates. He sustained the injury after a collision with a teammate during training on January 12th.

On January 13th, a Slovakian physiotherapist had to provide individual training for the Hanoi team player. Hai's injury wasn't serious, but he still had difficulty running at high speed.

Tuan Hai was the main striker for the Vietnamese national team under coach Troussier. Therefore, he couldn't help but worry when a key player in the attack suffered an injury at such a sensitive time.

It is highly likely that Tuan Hai will struggle to play in the match against Japan. This only adds to the difficulties facing the Vietnamese national team.
