Creative in theme and style

In recent years, Hanoi has witnessed the strong rise of a young literary force with independent thinking, truly creative products and gradually forming new aesthetic trends, both in terms of theme and artistic style.

In the field of poetry, names such as Nguyen Thi Thuy Hanh, Lu Mai, Nguyen Thi Kim Nhung, Ly Huu Luong, Du Nguyen, Nam Thi, Tran Thi Hang, Nguyen Vu Hiep, Ngo Gia Thien An, Vu Ngoc Dan Linh... have established a position in the hearts of readers. Many of them are members of the Hanoi Writers Association or the Vietnam Writers Association , and are also active in the Hanoi Young Literature Club - a gathering place for young writers with potential and creative aspirations. Some authors have received awards from the Vietnam Writers Association and other specialized organizations. Works such as "Literature of the Dark Spots" (Nguyen Thi Thuy Hanh), "Yao" (Ly Huu Luong), "Awakening with Imagination" (Nguyen Thi Kim Nhung), "Clouds in the Rabbit Cave" (Nguyen Vu Hiep)... are highly appreciated.

The works show the active movement of the young generation of poets in terms of form of expression, depth of thought and courage in exploiting thorny topics of contemporary life.

In the field of prose, familiar young writers such as Duc Anh, Minh Trang, Cao Nguyet Nguyen, Hien Trang... are always looking for new creative directions. Hien Trang has the novel "Bar in the belly of the whale" or the book "If all I have is words"; Cao Nguyet Nguyen with "Little devils of Thanh Cong boarding house"... The generation of writers born after 1990, especially Gen Z (born from 1995 to 2012) is developing with diverse colors, such as writer Trieu Duong (born in 2001) with the story collection "Nothing but the rain" which is quite thorny and sharp... After winning the Young Author Award of the Vietnam Writers Association with the novel "Double life: Living two lives", writer Duc Anh (born in 1993) is experimenting with writing novels in English.

According to writer Nguyen Vinh Huynh, Chairman of the Hanoi Young Literature Club, young literature in the capital city develops dynamically, independently, closely linked to modern life and deeply exploits personal feelings. Authors create new languages and forms, combining life with postmodern elements, creating close and lively connections with readers. Many writers boldly explore new topics, approaching global literature.

Move with the times

In the context of rapidly changing information reception methods and increasingly shortened attention spans of readers, how to create literary works that attract readers is a challenge for authors. However, anyone who has ever attended poetry reading sessions at the Cua O Quan space, or literary forums at Tram Doc, will certainly feel clearly that young people today are not indifferent to literature. The meetings, exchanges, introductions, and launches of young books still attract a large number of readers. This is thanks to the quick movements of young authors in the capital.

Young writer Vu Ngoc Dan Linh believes that in today's era, readers not only access literature through printed books but also through phone screens and audio versions of poetry readings. Listening directly at poetry reading events or even through videos with text and background music has brought many options to readers. Literature is infiltrated in new formats, new spaces where emotions are conveyed not only through words but also through rhythm, images, and visual effects. That change is an adaptation to the times, even a way to expand literature, connecting writers and readers together.

Young Hanoi literature in the new era is no longer confined within the framework of printed poetry and printed literature, but has been liberating itself in many directions such as poetry on Facebook, Instagram, storytelling literature through images, clips...

Sharing the same view, writer Nguyen Vinh Huynh added that young writers in Hanoi today do not stand outside of current events but proactively expand their reach, participate in international playgrounds, write in foreign languages, organize creative exchange events, publish books abroad, etc. They are actively contributing to the renewal of contemporary literature, proving that they are not only good at technology but also have creative ideals and aspirations for integration.

In addition to the efforts of young writers themselves, support and creating conditions for these writers to develop long-term needs to be focused on by all levels, sectors and associations. Poet Nguyen Viet Chien, Head of the Young Writers Committee (Hanoi Writers Association) said that the Hanoi Writers Association is implementing plans to support young authors. Expanding playgrounds such as seminars, talks, competitions, exchange programs, writing camps, publishing new works, etc. will add energy and an environment for the young generation to assert themselves.

Continuing to create and innovate, young authors in Hanoi not only bring works with strong identities, but also create a rich and diverse cultural environment. From there, they open up new perspectives, helping readers understand more deeply about social issues and people today, while contributing to the development of the cultural industry of the capital and the country.
