Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Foreign Trade of Vietnam ( Vietcombank ) today (August 8) officially introduced to Visa cardholders Apple Pay, a safer, more secure and private payment method that helps customers avoid giving their payment cards to others, touching physical payment buttons or exchanging cash — and using their iPhone to protect every transaction.
To use, customers simply double-tap and hold their iPhone or Apple Watch near a payment terminal to make a contactless payment. Every Apple Pay transaction is secure, authenticated with Face ID, Touch ID, or your device’s passcode, along with a dynamic one-time security code. Apple Pay is accepted at convenience stores, pharmacies, taxi companies, restaurants, cafes, retail stores, and more.
At the launch ceremony, Vietcombank Deputy General Director Nguyen Thi Kim Oanh said: “While the banking industry is moving towards digitalization and continuous innovation, today we are very excited to introduce Apple Pay to millions of Vietcombank customers and bring them an easy, safe and secure payment method using their Apple devices in stores, in apps and online”.
Customers can also use Apple Pay on iPhone, iPad, and Mac to make quick and convenient in-app purchases, or make web purchases through Safari without creating an account or entering shipping and payment information multiple times. Apple Pay makes it easy to pay for food and grocery delivery, online shopping, transportation, travel , and more. Apple Pay can also be used to make payments within apps on Apple Watch.
Security and privacy are top priorities for Apple Pay. When a customer uses a credit or debit card on Apple Pay, the actual card number is not stored on the device or on Apple servers. Instead, a unique Device Account Number is assigned, encrypted, and securely stored in the Secure Element, a standard chip designed to securely store payment information on electronic devices.
Setting up Apple Pay is simple. On your iPhone, simply open the Wallet app, tap the plus sign (+), and follow the instructions to add a Vietcombank credit or debit card. Customers can add a Vietcombank credit or debit card to Apple Pay from the VCB Digibank app.
In addition, customers can also register for a debit card online via the VCB Digibank app, the card will be issued immediately and added to Apple Pay.
After adding the card to iPhone, Apple Watch, iPad and Mac, customers can start using Apple Pay on that device immediately. Customers will continue to receive all the rewards and benefits that Vietcombank's card offers. This includes benefits such as accumulating VCB reward points, unlimited cashback, spending now and paying later with an interest-free period of up to 55 days, as well as enjoying promotions at hotels, restaurants, shopping stores, airline tickets, etc.
