Tickets for the World Cup final were being sold for over $2 million.

The FIFA World Cup 2026 hasn't even started yet, but it's already creating a huge frenzy off the pitch, with ticket prices for the final match being driven to unbelievable levels.

Four tickets to the final on July 19th at MetLife Stadium are being offered for sale at $2,299,998.85 each on FIFA's official resale platform.

This is the lower section of the stands behind the goal, not the central VIP area. Even so, the price still shocked the public, as it was hundreds of times higher than the original listed price.

According to current regulations, FIFA does not directly set resale prices on the Resale/Exchange Marketplace system. However, the world's most powerful football governing body collects a 15% fee from the buyer and a 15% fee from the seller in each transaction.

If a $2.3 million ticket is successfully sold, FIFA could earn approximately $690,000 in fees.

Not only were the tickets extremely expensive, but many other ticket categories for the final match were also pushed to exorbitant prices. A ticket in the access section was listed for $207,000 , while a second-tier ticket on the third tier was priced at $138,000 . Right next to it, another seat was priced at just $23,000 .

The lowest ticket price recorded for the final is currently around $10,923 , for four seats near the roof of the stadium.

Meanwhile, FIFA continues to sell tickets for the final directly on its official website for $10,990 . The huge difference between the original price and the resale price has made the World Cup ticket market a hot topic.

In previous World Cups, FIFA typically imposed a price cap on resale tickets. However, for the 2026 World Cup to be held in the USA, Canada, and Mexico, the organization decided not to limit resale prices.

FIFA believes the secondary ticket market in North America is too large and difficult to control. If price caps are imposed, speculators may switch to external platforms like StubHub.

The 2026 World Cup is still more than a month away, but the battle for tickets is already as heated as the matches themselves.
