(NADS) - In May, the sky over Quang Tri is a brilliant blue, the Lao wind rustles, and the already barren fields become even drier. From Dong Ha, following Highway 9, we arrived at Huong Lap Border Guard Post.
During the resistance war against the Americans, our troops crossed the rugged Sê Păng Hiêng mountain range here to go to battle.
The Huong Lap Border Guard Station (Quang Tri Border Guard) is tasked with managing and protecting a nearly 29-kilometer stretch of border with 16 national border markers and 5 border demarcation posts in Huong Viet and Huong Lap communes (Huong Hoa district). These are two border communes facing significant economic difficulties, with inconvenient transportation, and the majority of the population are Van Kieu people.
Over the years, the officers and soldiers of Huong Lap Border Guard Post have excellently fulfilled their duties in managing and protecting border sovereignty and security, maintaining political security and social order, and assisting the people in developing the economy, culture, and society; deserving the title of "Leading Flag in the Emulation Movement for Victory" of the entire army.
