A survey of ticket price data of Vietnamese airlines by the Civil Aviation Authority shows that ticket prices on the Hanoi - Ho Chi Minh City route of airlines increased by 8 - 25% compared to the week before the holiday.
According to information from the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam, during the period from August 30 to September 3, Vietnamese airlines will operate a total of 4,257 flights, an average of 840 flights/day, an increase of 3% compared to the previous holiday week and an increase of 3.5% compared to the same period in 2023.
Of which, there are an average of 600 domestic flights/day, an increase of 5% compared to the previous holiday week and an increase of 2.8% compared to the same period last year; the average number of international flights is 241 flights/day, a decrease of 2% compared to the previous holiday week and an increase of 5.1% compared to the same period in 2023.
With regard to domestic routes and north-south routes (route connecting 3 major cities: Hanoi - Da Nang - Ho Chi Minh City), airlines have increased their operations with a high number of flights, with an average of 241 flights/day. In fact, these are still the most "bustling" routes in the country, with high operating frequency not only during major holidays of the year but also on normal days.
Meanwhile, domestic tourist flights (to localities such as Vinh, Binh Dinh, Da Lat, Nha Trang, Phu Quoc) and flights from Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City to other localities were also boosted by airlines, with an average of 171 flights/day on domestic tourist routes and 187 flights/day to other localities, up 2% and 4% respectively compared to the previous holiday week.
Also according to a survey of airline ticket price data on August 20, ticket prices during the September 2 holiday increased compared to normal days before the holiday, about 20%.
On the Hanoi - Ho Chi Minh City route, the highest recorded ticket price is about 2.6 million VND/way provided by Vietnam Airlines on August 30 during the daytime (including meals), an increase of 8% compared to a week earlier (August 23). At the same time, Vietjet Air has a price of about 2.3 million VND/way, an increase of 25%.
On the Hanoi - Nha Trang route, the airfares announced by the airlines range from 2.4 - 3 million VND/way, an increase of about 24% compared to the week before the holiday... The airfares tend to increase, but appear mainly on the days starting and ending the holiday. For the days in the middle of the holiday, the basic airfares are relatively stable, remaining at the same level as the days before the holiday.
When comparing data with the peak holiday period of April 30 - May 1, although it is also the peak period of the year, the Vietnamese aviation authorities found that ticket prices for the September 2 holiday have decreased significantly and maintained a stable pace during the past summer. Accordingly, the price of basic economy class passenger transportation services on domestic flights during this period is lower, fluctuating 40 - 60% of the maximum level according to regulations.
"The fact that airlines are balancing and arranging passenger transport plans during the upcoming September 2nd holiday as well as the summer of 2024, in the context of many difficulties, especially from the reduction of the number of aircraft fleets, is a remarkable effort and effort. The Authority also creates conditions for airlines to be able to hire additional aircraft fleets and confirm flight schedules so that airlines can promptly adjust plans, increase operations, and supply seats to meet market demand during peak periods" - the leader of the Civil Aviation Authority acknowledged.
Passengers are also advised to book tickets early on the airline's official channels when traveling by air to have many options for ticket prices that suit their needs; at the same time, proactively monitor flight schedules and arrange travel time to airports to avoid congestion or inconvenience due to flight delays.
In addition, within each individual's conditions, passengers can also consider booking tickets on flights departing early or late in the day, to have more options for cheaper prices and night flight experiences with airlines.
