And soon, with the implementation of the Ghenh Rang - Vung Chua International Beach Resort Urban Area mega-project, the picturesque Ghenh Rang - Tien Sa region will also have the opportunity to transform itself within the overall development of a modern tourism complex.
Traveling along the road between the sea and the mountains.
In the late afternoon, as the sun gradually sets behind the Xuan Van mountain range, the approximately 3-kilometer-long Ghenh Rang - Tien Sa coastal road begins to fill with people. These include groups of tourists visiting Quy Nhon's famous scenic spots; young trail runners training before competitions; and older people leisurely walking for exercise… All of this creates a unique rhythm of life on what is considered the most beautiful road in Quy Nhon.

The road winding along Xuan Van mountain leads towards the coastal area belonging to the Quy Hoa Central Leprosy and Dermatology Hospital. On one side are mountains, on the other is the sea. Between the sea and the mountains are jagged rocks of various shapes interspersed with small sandy beaches. Besides the famous Egg Beach (Queen's Beach), Tien Sa Beach also possesses its own unique and captivating beauty.
Being passionate about the sea, for many years, every weekend or late afternoon, we would stroll along this path. Sometimes we would sit on the rocky outcrops at Tien Sa beach, watching the large cargo ships silently entering and leaving Quy Nhon Port. On other days, when the waves were big, we would watch each wave crash against the rocks, sending up a magnificent symphony of white foam, like a majestic performance of the sea's sounds and colors.

Since retiring, Ms. Truong Thi Thuy Trang (from Quy Nhon ward) has almost never missed a walk on the Ghenh Rang - Tien Sa trail. “This is the most beautiful trail for me. It’s not too flat, but has a slight slope that’s just right for older people to exercise. In the afternoon, the sun sets behind the mountains, so it’s very cool walking on this trail. Every time I come here, I feel so much lighter,” Ms. Trang shared.
According to Ms. Trang, what she likes most about Tien Sa beach is the beautiful rocky outcrops and the fine white sand nestled at the foot of the cliffs. Previously, the access to the beach was quite convenient with many steps and railings leading down. But after typhoon number 13 last year, this section of the path was washed away, making travel more difficult.
When mentioning Ghenh Rang - Tien Sa, many people immediately think of Egg Beach, associated with the story of Empress Nam Phuong, the wife of the last king of the Vietnamese feudal dynasty. But Ghenh Rang - Tien Sa is more than that. Along the rocky cliffs lies a fascinating world of rocks created by nature over millions of years.
Mr. Le Thanh, an employee of Saigon - Quy Nhon Tourism Joint Stock Company (nicknamed "Thanh the barefooted"), knows every nook and cranny of this rocky area. His calloused bare feet are accustomed to the small, hidden paths in the bushes and the precarious rocky outcrops close to the sea.
Following Mr. Thanh, the journey to explore Ghenh Rang - Tien Sa became even more interesting. The most impressive was Hon Chong, with its two large rocks stacked on top of each other, their connection fragile yet enduring through the ages against the waves and wind. Viewed from the southeast, Hon Chong resembles a man's face looking out to sea, so we jokingly call it Hon Vong The (Waiting for the Wife).

Along the nearly 3-kilometer-long rocky cliff, below Hon Chong, are the rocks of Tram Huong, Khung Long, Da Do, Da Den, Hon Rua, Mat Than, Ca Map… These rocks, eroded by waves and time, have formed shapes of countless creatures according to the imagination of each viewer.

The princess will awaken.
Besides its unique natural landscapes, Ghenh Rang - Tien Sa is also a land rich in cultural value. On Thi Nhan Hill lies the resting place of the poet Han Mac Tu; at the foot of the hill is Mong Cam Slope with its love stories steeped in poetry. In 1991, the 168-hectare Ghenh Rang - Tien Sa area was classified as a National Scenic Site by the State.
For many years, this area was expected to become a world-class tourist destination. Numerous businesses were entrusted with investing, but the projects were left unfinished due to a lack of financial capacity or a lack of long-term vision. These structures lie dormant amidst the stunning scenery, leaving the local people with a sense of regret.
Now, this picturesque region is facing new opportunities as the mega-project, the Ghenh Rang - Vung Chua International Beach Resort Urban Area, spanning nearly 2,900 hectares, is about to be implemented.

According to the plan, the entire Vung Chua mountain area and Xuan Van - Quy Hoa mountain area will be transformed into a modern urban tourism and resort development space, integrated with the preservation of the natural landscape.
Specifically, the Xuan Van - Quy Hoa area will develop coastal accommodation, entertainment, and service complexes while preserving existing historical and religious sites. The Vung Chua mountain area is oriented towards developing hillside housing, service facilities, resort accommodations, sports centers, and golf courses.
If properly invested in and developed in the right direction, this will not only be a "boost" for Ghenh Rang - Tien Sa but also open up development opportunities for the entire vast complex of scenic spots and coastal hills in eastern Gia Lai.
What the locals expect is not simply the construction of high-rise hotels or resorts right by the sea. More importantly, it's about awakening the potential of the entire natural heritage area through a sustainable development strategy that harmonizes conservation and exploitation. And with its rare values in landscape, culture, and unique geographical location, Ghenh Rang - Tien Sa has the potential to become an international-class destination.
This afternoon, standing on the Tien Sa rocky outcrop, watching the sunset behind Xuan Van mountain and listening to the waves crashing against the cliffs, I suddenly thought: Ghenh Rang - Tien Sa has waited a long time to be awakened. And this time, hopefully, the "princess" will truly awaken and rise to become a new symbol of Gia Lai's coastal tourism.
