The first statue of the "father of Bitcoin" was unveiled in Budapest, Hungary in 2021 with a reflective face design so visitors can see themselves, expressing the message "we are all Satoshi". The design symbolizes the anonymity of Satoshi Nakamoto, while inviting viewers to see themselves in the sculpture.
"We think of Satoshi as the father of the entire crypto industry. He created Bitcoin, he created blockchain technology, he is the god of our market," explains András Györfi, the project's initiator.
Satoshi Nakamoto, the programmer or group of people behind the Bitcoin idea, has been out of sight since April 2011. However, the success of blockchain technology, Bitcoin, and the idea of decentralized digital currency has inspired an entire industry that has flourished to this day.

After Hungary, other Satoshi statues were introduced in Switzerland, Italy, and Japan. They were not always treated as works of art. In August, a statue in Lugano, Switzerland, was vandalized and thrown into a lake, but was later restored.
Vietnam has just become the 5th country in the world to have a statue honoring Satoshi Nakamoto. This statue was introduced by the Vietnam Blockchain and Digital Asset Association (VBA) in collaboration with 1Matrix Company, located at the company's headquarters in Hanoi .
The statue was designed by Italian artist Valentina Picozzi with a "disappearing" effect. Only when viewed from the side can one see Satoshi Nakamoto sitting with his laptop, but when viewed from the front, he almost disappears. According to a representative of VBA, this idea symbolizes how the "father of Bitcoin" completely disappeared after building the Bitcoin network and handing over power to the global community.
Along with the Satoshi Nakamoto statue, VBA also created a space to display blockchain artworks. Ms. Nguyen Van Hien - Vice President and General Secretary of VBA, who directly initiated and realized the idea of bringing the Satoshi statue to Vietnam, said that this exhibition helps viewers directly feel and share the spirit of innovation.
Mr. Phan Duc Trung - Chairman of VBA, Chairman of 1Matrix said that the Satoshi statue and blockchain art space will be open to the public every Saturday. Mr. Trung also said that VBA will continue to replicate the art exhibition model to create more cultural and technological spaces for the Web3 community across Vietnam.
