A special scientific event recently took place at the University of Science and Technology of Hanoi (USTH), attracting the attention of many students, researchers and the public who love the universe.

The seminar with the theme “Intersectional Perspectives from the Universe: Journey, Creativity and Cooperation between France and Vietnam” held on September 24 is where stories of space exploration , scientific creativity and the spirit of international cooperation are connected and strongly spread.

The seminar was attended by distinguished guests: Mrs. Claudie Haigneré – the first French female astronaut to fly into space, and her husband, Mr. Jean-Pierre Haigneré – a veteran pilot and astronaut of the French Air Force. Accompanying the French astronauts were veteran scientists from USTH.

French speakers shared their journey to becoming astronauts, special experiences observing the Earth from space, as well as practical applications of space research in life.

Sharing her experiences and experiences in space projects, Ms. Haigneré said that careful preparation, the ability to independently handle emergency situations and a steadfast spirit helped astronauts overcome challenges. Today, modern technology provides more support, but human will and courage are still the decisive factors in conquering journeys in space.

In particular, when asked about the source of motivation that helps her overcome difficulties, Ms. Haigneré shared that she always keeps in mind the saying: “Take care and take time - Know how to take care of yourself, take time to prepare, dare to accept risks and overcome yourself. Failure can happen, but from it we learn a lot of things.”

In addition, Ms. Haigneré especially emphasized the role of the young generation, especially female students, in nurturing a passion for science and boldly entering new fields such as aerospace.

Accompanying his wife on the journey to explore space, Mr. Jean-Pierre Haigneré, former astronaut of the French National Center for Space Studies (CNES), said that experiments in space, according to the former astronaut, not only help medicine better understand the adaptability and evolution of the human body, but also open up new directions in solving global problems, from health care to technology development. In addition, satellite data plays an increasingly important role, helping to monitor sea level rise, observe climate change and forecast natural disasters.

"On the second flight, we saw South Africa, saw rising sea levels, saw forest fires in the Amazon... These are things that cannot be seen just on the ground," he said.

In addition, Mr. Haigneré emphasized that the Vietnam-France cooperation relationship is being increasingly strengthened and expanded, in which aerospace has become a bright spot demonstrating the depth of scientific cooperation and strategic diplomacy between the two countries.

The seminar is not only a bridge for students to access modern space knowledge, but also opens up prospects for extensive cooperation between Vietnam and France in science, innovation and technology.

Speaking at the seminar, Mr. Jean Marc Lavet, Rector of Hanoi University of Science and Technology, expressed his honor to welcome distinguished guests from France and Vietnam. He emphasized that universities are centers of knowledge, the “heart” of science and technology, and at the same time the place to train the young generation to shoulder the mission of development. Hanoi University of Science and Technology is a testament to the effective cooperation between Vietnam and France in the fields of education and culture.

Through stories from astronauts and scientists, the discussion “Intersectional Perspectives from the Universe” brought participants confidence, aspiration and creative inspiration. This will be a valuable asset for the young generation of Vietnam to continue to conquer knowledge and reach out to the world, joining hands to build a connected and sustainable future./.
