Male student majoring in Natural Sciences won the championship of VNG Code Tour 2025

After more than 5 weeks of intense competition with 3 qualifying rounds and the final round (November 1) in online format, the results of the biggest programming competition of the year of the "technology unicorn" VNG were officially announced on November 13, 2025. The championship title belongs to Nguyen Xuan Chi Thanh, while Vo Thanh Hai and Nguyen Anh Dung are the 2 contestants who won the runner-up and 3rd prize respectively.

Code Tour was formerly known as Saigon Code Tour, an open programming competition initiated by VNG for technology enthusiasts in Ho Chi Minh City. After 7 years of organization, Code Tour has become a prestigious "brand", attracting the programming community nationwide, with more than 10,000 contestants registering to participate. This year's season alone, Code Tour recorded an impressive number of more than 5,100 contestants registering, of which 118 contestants achieved a perfect score of 100/100.

“I am very honored and proud to know that I became the champion of this year's competition. Participating in Code Tour 2025 has given me more opportunities to compete and learn from many talented programmers. Besides, the competition has helped me learn how to manage time, stay calm and be confident in myself. Looking back, I feel like I am reviewing my development journey throughout three years of high school, and Code Tour is a meaningful destination for my final year,” shared Nguyen Xuan Chi Thanh, champion of Code Tour 2025.

Speaking to reporters, a VNG representative said that Code Tour is one of the key "pieces" in the group's human resource development strategy, aiming to create a professional playground associated with technology practice for the technology community. In particular, this year is also the first time VNG has coordinated with Ho Chi Minh City National University (HCM VNU) to co-organize the competition, aiming to promote the strength of School-Enterprise connection in training high-quality technology human resources with "real-life" capabilities in the market.

Previously, in May 2025, VNG and Ho Chi Minh City National University signed a strategic cooperation agreement, aiming to train at least 1,000 students through joint programs and committed to investing VND25 billion in research and development (R&D) activities in the next three years.

Investing in the next generation of high-quality engineers

Science and technology are being heavily invested in, aiming to become one of the pillars of Vietnam's digital economy . However, this field is seriously lacking high-quality human resources. According to reports, by 2025, Vietnam will need about 700,000 IT workers, while the current training system can only meet the needs of about 500,000 people. Notably, nearly 70% of graduates are assessed as not having enough capacity to immediately enter the labor market due to a lack of practical skills and practical experience.

Faced with this reality, the Government has identified the “3-house” cooperation model - State, School and Enterprise - as the core strategic triangle in the national innovation ecosystem. Many leading technology enterprises such as VNG are proactively investing in young human resources through training cooperation models with universities, organizing professional competitions, internal internship-training programs, and national-scale technology playgrounds.

Besides Code Tour, VNG is also cooperating with Ho Chi Minh City National University to implement many outstanding activities such as: Opening the course "Developing practical game programming skills" at the University of Information Technology (UIT) and teaching right at VNG Campus; Organizing the event series "VNG University Week 2025 - Company Tour" for more than 600 students from 5 universities under Ho Chi Minh City National University; along with many seminars to share academic knowledge, connecting businesses with schools...

According to experts, these new collaborative activities are helping to narrow the gap between the classroom and practice, creating conditions for students to be exposed to the working environment and real problems of the technology industry. This is an important foundation to form a generation of young engineers with capacity and innovative thinking for the digital transformation process of Vietnam.
