Speaking at the seminar, Mr. Ly Hoang Tung - Deputy Director of the Department of Science, Technology and Technology, Ministry of Science and Technology - said that developing space technology is an urgent requirement, ensuring national security and sovereignty , socio-economic development, and affirming Vietnam's position in the international arena.
For infrastructure human resource development, the key content in space science and technology development is training experts and scientists . Universities also open new majors to train and attract young people.
However, he said that the reality is that young people rarely participate in these industries. Currently, the Government is continuing to invest in the Vietnam Space Center, upgrading laboratories, focusing on space technology research, etc.

Dr. Nguyen Luong Quang, an expert from the Institute of Atomic Energy and Alternative Energy - CEA Paris-Saclay of France, said that during the process of cooperation with a number of Vietnamese research agencies, he realized that Vietnam's investment mechanism (in science) is still limited.
According to him, astrophysics requires much larger investment in equipment than other fields. The second problem is still commercialization. Only commercialization can attract talent. If there is no place for young people to work, they will not want to study.
"I think some agencies need to work together to create a science and technology incubator. The US Embassy organizes the NASA Space Apps Challenge every year, but it only allows students to develop ideas from NASA data. We need to do the above to create a large enough ecosystem," said Mr. Quang.

Associate Professor Dr. Pham Anh Tuan - General Director of the Vietnam Space Center - said that to break down barriers and difficulties and promote the development of the space technology industry, it is necessary to build a long-term strategy, not just at the 10-year level but longer, until 2040, 2050 and have a mechanism to ensure finance following the strategy.
According to him, currently the coordination of space activities is still fragmented among ministries and sectors. The Vietnam Space Committee is only operating at the level of "a steering committee", with an advisory and coordinating role.
“To create a synergy, it is necessary to build a national space agency,” he said, citing countries like the Philippines, which has a national space agency under the government for centralized management and has a space law.
With the global space economy forecast to reach 1,400 billion USD by 2030, the world's leading technology billionaires are investing heavily in this field. He said that it is time for Vietnam to identify space as not only a strategic technology but also a potential economic sector.
Building a national strategy for the space economy will open up new development opportunities, from satellite applications, telecommunications, to related services.
He added that it is expected that next September, the Space Discovery Center at Hoa Lac High-Tech Park will be fully licensed and open daily to the public, especially the young generation, to visit and inspire their passion for science.
