Le Thanh Thuy and Le Minh Thuan are the two athletes assigned to carry the flag for the Vietnamese Sports Delegation at the opening ceremony of the 33rd SEA Games. These are exemplary faces in terms of expertise, ethics, and lifestyle and competition.
Le Thanh Thuy, born in 1995, is a mainstay of the Vietnamese women's volleyball team, playing as a middle blocker. She participated in two SEA Games in 2015 and 2017, contributing to bringing home two silver and bronze medals for the Vietnamese women's volleyball team in those two games.
In 2025, she made her mark in international competitions with the Vietnamese women's volleyball team, such as winning the AVC Nations Cup 2025, being runner-up in VTV Cup and SEA V-League 2025 (stage 1), winning stage 2 of SEA V-League and participating in the World Championship in the same year.
Meanwhile, Le Minh Thuan is the captain of the Vietnamese karate team. He won a gold medal at the 2017 SEA Games and is considered by the coaching staff to be a highly skilled martial artist, a role model senior, and a positive influence on the younger generation.
This is the first time Le Thanh Thuy and Le Minh Thuan have been chosen as flag bearers representing the 1,165 members of the Vietnamese Sports Delegation at a SEA Games. Both are over 1.9 m tall, have bright faces and attractive appearances.
At the most recent regional sports festival in 2023, swimmer Nguyen Huy Hoang was the flag bearer for the Vietnamese Sports Delegation. At the 2022 festival at home, fencer Vu Thanh An was the athlete taking on this responsibility.
Thanh Thuy and Minh Thuan are currently training with the national teams and are actively determined to achieve high results at this year's SEA Games.
The 33rd SEA Games will officially open on December 9 in Bangkok, Thailand. The head of the Vietnamese sports delegation is Mr. Nguyen Hong Minh, Deputy Director of the Vietnam Sports Department.
The Vietnamese sports delegation competed in 47 events, aiming to win from 91 to 110 gold medals and strive to be in the top 3 for overall medal achievements.
Currently, the men's and women's football teams have arrived in Thailand. U22 Vietnam is the "opening team" for the Vietnamese Sports Delegation with the opening match against U22 Laos at 4 p.m. on December 3.
