Skillfully mobilize people to build roads

Coming from a farming family, his entire youth was spent working on the fields, but Mr. Chau Sua always reminded himself to study to understand, to convey to the people in the village and hamlet. Thanks to his good education level, and being able to speak Vietnamese and Khmer, he became the secretary of Phuoc Long hamlet, then worked in the culture and information department, and at the same time, assisted in interpreting during village meetings.

Since those years, he has become accustomed to going from house to house to propagate the Party's policies and the State's laws. Going so often becomes a habit, then a habit becomes love, love becomes responsibility, with perseverance and a close, easy-to-understand way of communicating, he gradually became a "bridge" between the government and the people living in the villages and hamlets. In 2020, when he was elected by the people as a prestigious person of the commune, he began to worry more about rural traffic. The small, narrow dirt roads through the villages and hamlets make traveling extremely difficult, in the rainy season it is muddy, in the dry season it is dusty. People's rice trucks and motorbikes have to avoid bad sections, even slipping and falling when it rains. Mr. Chau Sua realized that if they want to improve their lives, they have to expand rural roads. However, mobilizing people to donate land is not simple. Many households are still hesitant to sacrifice a part of their land that has been attached to them for generations.

Undaunted, Mr. Chau Sua went to each house to explain, analyze the benefits, and persistently persuaded people to understand the common goal. Thanks to his sincere and straightforward way of speaking, he created trust in the people. Mr. Chau Muong's family is one of the typical households in donating land with a width of more than 1.5m and a length of over 100m to open the road. "Thanks to Mr. Sua's persuasion, the people boldly responded. Now the road is wide, vehicles run smoothly, and trading and transporting goods is much easier than before," Mr. Muong shared.

Thanks to pioneering households like Mr. Muong, the movement of donating land to build roads has spread. One road, then many roads in the hamlet were formed from the hands of donating land, the contribution of the people themselves and the skillful lobbying of Mr. Chau Sua. “Mr. Chau Sua is always the leader, patiently explaining so that people understand the long-term benefits. His family is exemplary, saying what he does, so people trust and support him more,” said Ms. Neang Soc Khone - Head of Phuoc Long hamlet.

Building bridges, contributing to changing the homeland

In addition to building roads, the completion of the two bridges Phuoc Long 2 and Kenh Suon 8 also had the active contribution of Mr. Chau Sua in calling on people to support working days, funds and materials. After completion, Kenh Suon 8 bridge became an important connection point between O Lam commune and neighboring communes; Phuoc Long 2 bridge well served the agricultural production needs of people in the area. The motorbikes that were once covered in sand and dirt now run on the sturdy bridge surface. "Mr. Chau Sua is one of the most prestigious people in the commune. With his prestige, he mobilized people to donate land to build roads and contribute to building bridges, contributing with the government to improve traffic infrastructure and serve people's lives", commented Ms. Neang Sam Bo - Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of O Lam commune.

Now that three roads have been completed, Mr. Chau Sua continues to campaign for the construction of a fourth road. Although he knows this is not an easy task, especially in the context of many households' difficult lives, Mr. Chau Sua still believes that perseverance will reach the hearts of the people. Thanks to that, up to now, more than 90% of households in Phuoc Long hamlet agree with this work. "Seeing that people's lives are still lacking, I want to contribute a small part to help the Khmer people develop their economy and travel more conveniently. As long as I am healthy, I will continue to work so that the hamlet and village can develop more and more," Mr. Chau Sua confided.

The simple, plain words contain the heart of a Khmer man who has devoted all his love to his homeland. On the newly built concrete roads, the sound of vehicles, the laughter of children after school… all seem to confirm that what he said is not just a dream but is gradually becoming a reality. The newly opened roads and newly built bridges have changed the face of the O Lam countryside, partly thanks to the persistent efforts of Mr. Chau Sua, who always puts the interests of the community first.
