On the morning of December 3, gasoline prices reversed to decrease, equivalent to the increase at the beginning of yesterday morning. Accordingly, Brent oil price decreased by 0.72 USD/barrel, equivalent to 1.14%, to 62.45 USD/barrel; WTI oil decreased by 0.68 USD/barrel, equivalent to 1.15%, to 58.64 USD/barrel.
Analysts say prices are being held back by hopes of a breakthrough in Ukraine peace talks that could see restrictions on Russian oil supplies lifted, but those hopes are likely to be dashed and the market faces further disruption risks.
In other developments, Russian President Vladimir Putin is set to embark on a two-day visit to India (December 4-5). Observers say the trip is aimed at promoting further sales of Russian oil, missile systems and fighter jets, in order to restore energy and defense relations that have been affected by US pressure.

World oil prices turn down again
In the global market, the long-standing pressure on prices from oversupply is being "balanced" by other concerns such as attacks on Russian energy infrastructure over the weekend, as well as tensions between the US and Venezuela. On December 2, information showed that oil shipments from a Black Sea loading facility, after a major Ukrainian drone attack over the weekend, have resumed normal operations.
Meanwhile, updated prices of finished petroleum products in the Asian market until this morning (December 3), forecasts show that domestic petroleum prices in the operating session tomorrow afternoon (December 4) may fluctuate in opposite directions. Accordingly, gasoline prices are forecast to increase by more than 500 VND/liter, and oil prices of all types will decrease below 500 VND/liter. This forecast does not include the Petroleum Price Stabilization Fund.
The Vietnam Petroleum Institute forecasts that the retail price of E5 RON 92 gasoline may increase by VND567 (3%) to VND19,858/liter, while RON 95-III gasoline is forecast to increase by VND602 (3%) to VND20,602/liter; kerosene price may decrease by 2.9% to VND18,905/liter, diesel oil may decrease by 2.3% to VND18,368/liter, and mazut oil may decrease by 0.1% to VND13,466/kg./.
