Tay Ninh is about to open the Tan Nam - Meun Chey international border gate pair

As one of four international border gates in Tay Ninh province, the Tan Nam international border gate project, which has just been built with a total investment of 274 billion VND, is preparing to open.

On December 3, information from the People's Committee of Tay Ninh province said that it had issued a plan to organize the opening ceremony of the Tan Nam (Tay Ninh) - Meun Chey (Prey Veng, Cambodia) international border gate pair. According to the plan, the ceremony is expected to take place on December 8.

In 2019, the Government issued a resolution approving the upgrading of Tan Nam sub-border gate to an international border gate. In May 2021, the Tan Nam - Meun Chey international border gate pair officially came into operation.

Currently, the project to build Tan Nam international border gate in Tan Bien commune, Tay Ninh with a total investment of 274 billion VND has also been completed, ready for the opening event.

The opening of the Tan Nam - Meun Chey international border gate pair aims to implement the agreement between the two governments of Vietnam and Cambodia, meeting the requirements of socio-economic development between the two countries in the new situation.

At the same time, create favorable conditions for socio-economic development and improve the material life of people in the two provinces through the exchange of import and export of goods.

In addition, further strengthening the management of peaceful, friendly, cooperative and developing borders, consolidating national defense, security and foreign affairs, ensuring political security, social order and safety in border areas and border gates of Vietnam and Cambodia.

Tay Ninh has a border of nearly 369km, adjacent to the provinces of Svay Rieng, Tboung Khmum and Prey Veng (Cambodia), with 21 border gates, including 4 international border gates: Moc Bai, Xa Mat, Binh Hiep and Tan Nam.

In the first 10 months of the year, the import-export turnover of goods under commercial contracts at the border gates of Tay Ninh province reached more than 2.6 billion USD. Of which, exports reached more than 863 million USD, imports reached more than 1.7 billion USD.
