On the afternoon of December 2 (local time), Comrade Le Tien Chau, Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the City Party Committee, Head of the City National Assembly Delegation led the Hai Phong City delegation to work with the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic. Mr. Martin Frelich, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic received and worked with the delegation.
In a friendly atmosphere, Secretary of the City Party Committee Le Tien Chau respectfully thanked the Czech Republic for the warm and friendly welcome given to the delegation.
Referring to the traditional friendship between Vietnam and the former Czechoslovakia, now the Czech Republic, which was built in the 1950s and has been consolidated and developed to this day, emphasizing that the two countries officially upgraded their relationship to a strategic partnership in January 2025, Secretary of the City Party Committee Le Tien Chau affirmed that in the overall relationship, the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic plays a core role in promoting economic - trade, investment and energy cooperation between the two countries.
Providing an overview of the city's socio-economic situation, the City Party Secretary emphasized that Hai Phong is the only locality in Vietnam that has maintained a double-digit growth rate for 11 consecutive years.
Hai Phong is also the most dynamic economic region in Vietnam, with an export turnover of 36 billion USD, goods passing through seaports reaching 140 million tons, more than 1,748 FDI projects in operation with a total capital of over 50.52 billion USD, in that general picture there is an important role of European investors.
After merging with Hai Duong province, Hai Phong city has strongly expanded its development space, managed by a government apparatus with top economic management quality, promoting transparency and integrity in serving people and businesses.
This is a solid foundation for Hai Phong and Czech agencies and enterprises to expand cooperation in areas where the Czech Republic has strengths and Hai Phong has needs, such as manufacturing industry, renewable energy, green transformation, and industrial emission reduction.
In the opposite direction, the connection between Hai Phong's deep-water seaport system and the European transport network will open up new trade routes, shorten shipping times and reduce logistics costs for businesses of the two countries.
Comrade Secretary of the City Party Committee Le Tien Chau proposed that the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic pay attention to and support the organization of trade and investment promotion activities, business forums and market survey delegations between the two sides. Hai Phong takes the lead in implementing specific cooperation programs with trade promotion agencies and Czech enterprises, ready to provide industrial premises, synchronous technical infrastructure and favorable support mechanisms to accompany Czech investors in Hai Phong. In the immediate future, Hai Phong hopes to soon establish the Hai Phong Cultural Trade Center in the Czech Republic and vice versa.
Impressed by Hai Phong's rapid and stable growth and the city's outstanding potential, Czech Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Martin Frelich is optimistic about the prospects for bilateral cooperation and said that the Czech Republic always attaches importance to the Vietnamese market, considering Vietnam its most important non-European partner and Hai Phong is the gateway for Czech businesses to enter the ASEAN market.
Welcoming the initiative to establish the Hai Phong Cultural Trade Center in the Czech Republic, Deputy Minister Martin Frelich said that this will contribute to promoting the Vietnam - Czech Republic strategic partnership to become increasingly deeper and more substantial.
The two sides agreed that in the coming time, they will organize business forums, trade and investment promotion programs, market survey delegations and meetings connecting businesses of both sides to discuss cooperation and promote specific projects.
After the working session with the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic, the delegation of Hai Phong city successfully concluded its visit and working trip to the Czech Republic.
On the morning of December 3 (local time), Comrade Le Tien Chau, Secretary of the Hai Phong City Party Committee, led a delegation of Hai Phong City to Brussels, starting a 3-day working visit to the Kingdom of Belgium - an important economic partner of the EU in Hai Phong.
The delegation is expected to have a working session with the Vietnamese Embassy in the Kingdom of Belgium right after the plane lands.
