Having the opportunity to meet the Rainbow Journey Club during a visit to the Nursing Home in Rach Gia Ward, we were surprised by the confidence, thoughtfulness and admirable sense of responsibility shown by the children. Each gift was meticulously and wholeheartedly prepared by the children, making the atmosphere at the nursing home warm and full of love. Through these small actions, we can see the sharing and enthusiasm of the youth clearly and vividly expressed.
Established in 2019 but then temporarily suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic, by 2023, the Rainbow Journey Club officially resumed operations with 35 members and many rich and diverse community and charity activities.
Ms. Tran Thi Thu Dung - school psychology consultant at Huynh Man Dat High School for the Gifted, instructor of the Rainbow Journey Club's activities shared: "The fund to carry out the club's volunteer programs and activities is discussed and implemented by the members. The students are very active and actively develop the fund in many different ways such as opening clothing liquidation booths, making handicrafts to sell during school activities. They also cooperate with some cafes that organize music nights to set up booths to sell souvenirs."
The Rainbow Journey Club is organized systematically with many separate committees such as human resources, design, content... Each committee will be assigned a specific task. Each gift or support for difficult circumstances is transparently disclosed, helping students understand the meaning of responsibility and transparency in community activities, thereby not only spreading love but also learning how to work professionally, knowing how to appreciate each resource and effort of the collective.
The Rainbow Journey Club donated 1,083 textbooks, 211 notebooks, 97 school supplies, 56 ao dai sets, 92 trousers, 37 shirts... with a total value of more than 78 million VND for students in difficult circumstances. Tran Nguyen Anh Uyen - a student of class 12N2, Huynh Man Dat High School for the Gifted, is the former homeroom teacher and currently serves as the Club's advisor.
Anh Uyen confided: “During my time with the Rainbow Journey Club, the greatest thing I have gained is not only the experience of volunteering but also a new perspective on responsibility and sharing. When participating in the club's activities, we learn how to work in groups, communicate with different people and handle situations. Thanks to those experiences, when I became an advisor for the club, I always remind my friends that volunteering is not just about giving gifts but also about respecting, listening and understanding the recipients.”
Sharing about the Club's future orientation, Ms. Tran Thi Thu Dung said that the Club has made detailed plans for a series of charity activities during the Tet holiday. It is expected that the Club will organize visits and give gifts to children, the elderly and families in difficult circumstances. Members will also prepare fundraising booths to proactively create funding for programs taking place in the early new year.
