On the afternoon of June 22, the Government Office coordinated with the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment to organize a national online conference to review the National Target Program on New Rural Development for the 2021-2025 period. Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, Head of the Steering Committee for National Target Programs, chaired the conference.

At Dak Nong bridge, TUV, Vice Chairman of Provincial People's Committee Ton Thi Ngoc Hanh chaired the conference.

At the conference, Mr. Do Duc Duy, Minister of Agriculture and Environment, affirmed that the direction and implementation of the National Target Program on New Rural Development has been carried out synchronously, promptly and increasingly in-depth, ensuring the right direction and unity in organization and implementation from the central to local levels.
The whole country has mobilized about 3,703,478 billion VND for new rural construction. The new rural construction program has basically completed all the targets assigned by the National Assembly and the Government, most of the main targets have been completed, exceeding the set targets.
Some typical results include: At the commune level, 6,084/7,669 communes (79.3%) nationwide have met the NTM standards (an increase of 10.6% compared to the end of 2021 and basically completed the assigned target for the entire 2021-2025 period); 2,567 communes (42.2%) have met the advanced NTM standards (an increase of 2,064 communes compared to the end of 2021, exceeding the assigned target for the entire 2021-2025 period) and 743 communes (12.2%) have met the model NTM standards (an increase of 700 communes compared to the end of 2021, exceeding the assigned target for the entire 2021-2025 period).

District-level targets for completing the task of meeting NTM standards and advanced NTM districts. Nationwide, 329/646 district-level units (51%) in 60 provinces and centrally-run cities have been recognized by the Prime Minister for completing the task of meeting NTM standards (an increase of 116 units compared to the end of 2021, exceeding the assigned target for the entire period of 2021-2025). Among the districts that have met NTM standards to date, 48/240 districts (20%) have met NTM standards and have been recognized by the Prime Minister for meeting advanced NTM standards (completing the assigned target for the entire period of 2021-2025).
Provincial targets for completing the task of building new rural areas include 24 provinces and centrally-run cities with 100% of communes meeting new rural standards (an increase of 11 provinces compared to the end of 2021), of which 19 provinces and cities have 100% of communes meeting new rural standards and 100% of district-level units have been recognized as meeting new rural standards/completing new rural tasks. 12 provinces have been recognized by the Prime Minister for completing the task of building new rural areas (achieving 80% of the assigned target for the entire 2021-2025 period).
The target of average income of rural people has achieved positive results. In 2024, it will reach about 54 million VND/person/year (1.3 times higher than in 2020), and in 2025, it is expected to reach about 58 million VND/person/year (1.4 times higher than in 2020, basically completing the assigned target for the entire period of 2021-2025).

With the achieved results, the Minister of Agriculture and Environment emphasized: The New Rural Development Program continues to affirm itself as a major, correct, consistent and popular policy, contributing to the realization of major orientations of the Party, National Assembly and Government. The implementation process has gradually innovated the thinking of rural development and poverty reduction in a multi-dimensional, comprehensive direction, linking production, life, environment and society.

NTM contributes to improving living conditions and enhancing the quality of life of rural people, especially ethnic minorities, the poor and disadvantaged groups. Rural infrastructure has been significantly improved, livelihoods have been gradually consolidated, basic social services such as healthcare, education, clean water and information have been expanded. The poverty rate has decreased rapidly, the economic structure has shifted positively; political security and social order have been ensured, contributing to narrowing regional gaps and promoting sustainable development in Vietnam.
