The Michelin Guide 2024 has just officially announced the introduction of 164 dining establishments - with 7 restaurants receiving one Michelin star (2 new restaurants and 1 restaurant upgraded from Michelin Selected), 58 dining establishments receiving Bib Gourmand award (28 new establishments and 1 restaurant transferred from Michelin Selected) and 99 dining establishments receiving Michelin Selected award with 40 new establishments in Vietnam.

This is the announcement from Michelin Guide 2024 which was just held in Ho Chi Minh City this evening, June 27. Accordingly, Michelin officially revealed all the selected restaurants in the Michelin Guide list in Hanoi , Ho Chi Minh City, and Da Nang in 2024.

In particular, this year, the organization awarded Vietnam the prestigious Star Awards, the Michelin Green Star for sustainable cuisine , the popular Bib Gourmand award, and the Special Awards for Young Chef, Sommelier and Service Awards. Notably, the Michelin Green Star was announced for the first time within the framework of the event.

Among the establishments newly added to the Michelin Guide list, there are 10 establishments from Hanoi (5 Bib Gourmand and 5 Michelin Selected), 26 establishments from Ho Chi Minh City (2 one-Michelin-star restaurants, 8 Bib Gourmand and 16 Michelin Selected) and 36 from Da Nang (1 one-Michelin-star restaurant, 16 Bib Gourmand and 19 Michelin Selected).

International Director of Michelin Guides, Mr. Gwendal Poullennec, said that Da Nang is a new city added in the second announcement of Michelin Guide in Vietnam. This is a factor that helps the Michelin Guide's choices become richer and more diverse with unique local dishes and specialties, representing the cuisine of Central Vietnam and at the same time reflecting the influence of French, Chinese cuisine as well as other Southeast Asian cultures.

“In fact, the three cities of Vietnam including Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and Da Nang all have their own colors. Vietnam's culinary culture shows abundant energy, passion and creativity that constantly surprises the market. Besides the trend of famous chefs opening more restaurants in Vietnam, cooperating with the new generation of Vietnamese chefs to develop in a customer-centric direction. Therefore, Vietnam has truly become an attractive destination on the world culinary map in the eyes of tourists and diners,” Mr. Gwendal Poullennec assessed.

According to the announcement from the organizers, the one-star Michelin restaurants announced last year including Gia, Hibana by Koki, Tam Vi and Anan Saigon still retain their titles. In addition, the 2024 one-star Michelin list has 2 new restaurants: Akuna (Ho Chi Minh City), La Maison 1888 (Da Nang) and the only restaurant from the Michelin Selected list to be promoted to one Michelin star: The Royal Pavilion (Ho Chi Minh City).

Notably, Nén Danang is the first restaurant in Vietnam to receive the Michelin Green Star. This award honors pioneering dining establishments that aim to build sustainable cuisine, providing an experience that combines the excellence of their dishes with a serious commitment to environmental friendliness.

In addition, the number of Bib Gourmand establishments doubled last year, with a total of 58 establishments: 18 in Hanoi, 24 in Ho Chi Minh City and 16 in Da Nang. Of the 29 new establishments, 16 are from Da Nang, 5 from Hanoi and 8 from Ho Chi Minh City.

The 99 dining establishments (40 of which are new) listed in the Michelin-curated list include 33 in Hanoi (5 of which are new), 47 in Ho Chi Minh City (16 of which are new) and 19 in Da Nang (all new). These dining establishments are included in the curated list because they have shown the potential to be promoted to Michelin Star status or move to Bib Gourmand status in the future.
