29 Restaurants Received the Bib Gourmand Award

This is the first time restaurants in Vietnam have been awarded Michelin stars or featured in the guide. From December 1st, 2022, the judges visited Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City to find the best eateries. They are experienced professionals in the culinary, restaurant, and hotel industries, including highly skilled chefs from 15 countries.

Michelin-starred restaurants are independently evaluated by anonymous assessors, according to universal standards, based on five criteria: food quality, culinary skill, flavor harmony, the chef's personality reflected in the dish, and consistency of the dish over time and across the entire menu.

70 restaurants in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City have been selected for inclusion in the Michelin Selected list.

Speaking at the launch ceremony of Michelin Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, Ms. Nguyen Vu Quynh Anh, General Director of Sun Hospitality Group (a resort and tourism brand under Sun Group), shared: “From the list announced by Michelin today, Vietnam will become a new culinary destination in the world, spreading to global tourists. The foundation for the new development of not only the Vietnamese cuisine, but also the tourism industry in general, will be built from today. This historical milestone has only just been established, and the journey ahead, for Vietnam to win even more Michelin awards in the future, will require much effort. But with the presence of the Michelin Guide, the efforts of chefs and those working in the culinary industry throughout Vietnam, we believe that very soon, Vietnam will be a world-class culinary destination that every international tourist should visit at least once in their lifetime.”

Mr. Nguyen Trung Khanh, Director General of the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, emphasized: "With Michelin's accreditation process in Vietnam being very rigorous, the announcement today that restaurants in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City have been awarded the Michelin brand will be a huge turning point for all Vietnamese restaurants, creating a brand to welcome tourists, especially international visitors."
