The 2025 Southeast Asian U23 Championship officially kicks off from July 15 to 29 in Indonesia. The Vietnam U23 team will compete as the defending champions, aiming to win the championship for the third time in this arena.

The 2025 Southeast Asian U23 Championship is considered an important tournament for the football development of countries in the Southeast Asian region.
For Vietnamese football, the goal of successfully defending the throne not only helps to continue to affirm its position but is also a strategic opportunity, helping to train physical strength and hone tactics, aiming for important tournaments such as the 2026 AFC U23 Championship qualifiers and the 33rd SEA Games.
The 2025 Southeast Asian U23 Championship features 10 teams, divided into three groups. Group A includes Brunei, host Indonesia, Malaysia and the Philippines. Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam are in Group B. Group C includes Myanmar, Thailand and Timor Leste.
In the group stage, the teams compete in a round robin to select the top 3 teams and the second-placed team with the best results to advance to the semi-finals.
According to the match schedule, the U23 Vietnam team will meet Laos (July 19) and Cambodia (July 22). At the 2025 Southeast Asian U23 Championship, the U23 teams of Indonesia, Vietnam and Thailand are the top candidates for the championship.
