The Vietnam Para-weightlifting team participated in the tournament with 4 athletes: Le Van Cong (49kg men), Nguyen Binh An (54kg men), Dang Thi Linh Phuong (50kg women) and Chau Hoang Tuyet Loan (55kg women). Weightlifter Le Van Cong successfully “opened the competition” by winning a gold medal in the men’s 49kg category. This achievement greatly motivated his teammates to compete later.
In the women's 50kg event that took place last night, August 23, Linh Phuong competed with 9 other opponents from the UK, Spain, Brazil, China, Egypt, etc. After 3 lifts, Linh Phuong had the best result for 1 lift of 103kg, ranking third after 2 athletes Broome Olivira (UK, 112kg) and Wei Yi (China, 105kg), thereby winning the bronze medal.

By successfully lifting 103kg, Linh Phuong also surpassed the achievement of 102kg achieved at SEA Games 32, when the Vietnamese athlete won gold medal and broke the Para Games record.
Thus, after the second day of competition, Vietnam has won 1 gold medal and 1 bronze medal. The chance of winning a medal for Vietnamese disabled weightlifters will continue to be expected from the remaining 2 athletes, Nguyen Binh An (54kg men) and Chau Hoang Tuyet Loan (55kg women).
