On August 12, Vietnam and the Republic of Korea officially signed an important strategic cooperation agreement to strongly promote innovation, startups and green transformation in Seoul, witnessed by General Secretary To Lam and Korean Prime Minister Kim Min-Seok. The event marked a significant step forward in the bilateral partnership between the two countries.
The cooperation agreements were signed within the framework of the Vietnam-Korea Economic Forum, organized by the Vietnamese Ministry of Finance in coordination with the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) and relevant agencies, during the State visit of General Secretary To Lam to Korea (August 10-13).
Speaking at the Forum, General Secretary To Lam highly appreciated the support of Korea in building the National Innovation Center (NIC) under the Vietnamese Ministry of Finance, especially SK Group which has sponsored the construction and development of the ecosystem at NIC facilities. The General Secretary expressed his belief that the two countries will continue to join hands to support Vietnam in creating a "Red River miracle" based on the foundation of science , technology and innovation.
During this event, the National Innovation Center signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Nextrans Investment Fund and the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI).
The cooperation between NIC and Nextrans Investment Fund focuses on three main objectives: promoting a dynamic innovation ecosystem; Facilitating access to international venture capital for Vietnamese startups, including the joint establishment of an Innovation Fund; Capacity building for founders and ecosystem members through training, mentoring and international exposure opportunities.
In addition, the agreement between NIC and GGGI aims to promote innovation activities associated with green growth, contributing to the realization of the 2030 Agenda and the Paris Agreement on climate change. Specific areas of cooperation include: developing climate technology industries and green startups; Supporting the climate technology startup ecosystem (with artificial intelligence applications, investment connections); Developing a clean hydrogen investment ecosystem in Vietnam; Establishing digital partnerships, connecting investors and global markets (integrating GGGI's Green Transition Lab platform into NIC); Other areas promoting green growth based on innovation.
These collaborations are a continuation of the outstanding initiatives that NIC has implemented in recent times, such as organizing national and international events (Vietnam Innovation Day, Semiconductor Industry Exhibition, Vietnam Investment and Innovation Forum), building a venture capital connection network and training high-quality human resources in strategic technology fields.
The signing of the Memorandums of Understanding between NIC, Nextrans and GGGI is of great significance, contributing to concretizing the strategic vision set forth by the leaders of Vietnam and Korea, opening up practical opportunities to promote innovation, startups and green transformation in Vietnam, for sustainable development and common prosperity./.
