Vietnam always attaches importance to strengthening and developing the strategic partnership with Germany in all fields.

On the afternoon of September 29, at the Government Headquarters, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries (1975-2025), Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh had a phone call with Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany Friedrich Merz.

The phone call aimed to discuss measures to promote the Vietnam-Germany strategic partnership to develop more practically, effectively and comprehensively.

During the phone call, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh conveyed the greetings and regards of General Secretary To Lam and other senior leaders of the Party and State to the German Chancellor; highly appreciated Germany's role and position in the European Union (EU) and in the international arena; was pleased to see that after 50 years of establishing diplomatic relations, Germany is a leading partner in trade and investment; and emphasized that Vietnam always attaches importance to consolidating and developing the strategic partnership with Germany in all fields.

The Prime Minister asked Germany to continue to coordinate effectively in implementing the Vietnam-EU Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA), promptly ratify the Vietnam-EU Investment Protection Agreement (EVIPA), create more favorable conditions for businesses of the two countries to expand investment and business cooperation; and make science, technology and innovation a new pillar in bilateral cooperation.

Prime Minister Friedrich Merz expressed his impression of Vietnam's development potential and growing position in the region and the world; highly appreciated the great results that Vietnam has achieved in recent times in all fields as well as the fact that Vietnam has issued many important resolutions to promote socio-economic development, science and technology, and innovation.

Prime Minister F. Merz affirmed that Germany attaches importance to the strategic partnership with Vietnam and wishes to continue expanding cooperation with Vietnam in strategic areas such as green economy, energy transition, circular economy, supporting industry and logistics. The Prime Minister also sent his regards on the current storm and flood situation and the recovery of storm and flood consequences in Vietnam.

In an atmosphere of sincerity, frankness and trust, the two Prime Ministers expressed satisfaction with the positive developments in the bilateral relationship in recent times, especially in the fields of economics, trade and investment, science and technology, energy conversion, education and training, and labor...

The two sides agreed to soon upgrade bilateral relations to a higher level, continue to increase exchanges of high-level delegations, effectively promote existing cooperation mechanisms, and promote the establishment of joint working groups in the fields of economics, politics, and labor.

The two Prime Ministers agreed to further promote cooperation in the fields of trade, investment, green finance, renewable energy, digital transformation and sustainable development, supporting industries, digital economy, pharmaceuticals, chemicals, and transportation.

The two Prime Ministers also agreed to continue close coordination within the framework of ASEAN-EU relations as well as at international and regional forums.

The two sides also discussed international and regional issues of mutual concern; affirmed their stance in support of resolving disputes by peaceful means on the basis of international law; and emphasized the role of international cooperation and regional connectivity for peace, stability and sustainable development.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh also asked the German side to continue creating favorable conditions for the Vietnamese community in Germany to stabilize their lives, integrate into the local society, and actively contribute to the development of the host country as well as the friendly relations between the two countries; at the same time, promote cooperation programs in vocational training and recruitment of high-tech workers from Vietnam to Germany, in accordance with the needs of the two sides' labor markets.

On this occasion, the two Prime Ministers respectfully invited each other to make official visits at suitable times to continue discussing measures to strengthen and improve the effectiveness of bilateral cooperation.
